Just a country girl kicking around the dirt roads taking pictures of trees, gates, animals. cactus, and anything else that strikes my un-fancy mind. You are welcome to take a look and come back if you like.

Down Among The Kickapoos
At ten this morning we headed down to Eagle Pass, Texas where the Kickapoo casino is. Not that we're big gamblers but we could hit some quiet country roads. The area has changed so much since John and I were down there. We ate the buffet which didn't impress me that much and put a few dollars in the slots and then headed back home, so we thought. We decided to come home through El Indio, Texas but turned off on a wrong road and did we end up in some scrubby holey country roads. One road we had to go over a scary wooden bridge over an irrigation canal. Before we got there we were driving slow trying to avoid the deep holes to avoid damaging the car when a large truck zoomed past us on the right side. Very dangerous. We saw two women, a bunch of dogs and kids by a gate so we stopped for directions. John ask them where the road straight ahead ends up and they said no where. We changed our mind about that way as it was too cold to sleep in the car or in the bar ditch or walk if we had trouble. They told us we would have to go back over that scary wooden bridge. This detour through the dry scrub brush narrow country rough roads made us about an hour more then it should have getting home. Oh you want to know if we won anything. Won some, lost some, but probably lost more then we won. We can laugh about it now but I think we were all saying a little prayer not to get stranded in that God forsaken land.

There is god forsaken land in TEXAS? Nah, surely you jest! LOL
Love the directions. I think I was on that road once in North Carolina. I got lost trying to get back to the base faster via short cut(?), stopped and asked a guy how to get to Fayetteville and he said you cannot get there from here.
So I know those folk. hahahaha
Glad you had a good time though, anything to entertain guests!!!
LOve and ((HUGS)).

I think your biggest win of the day was making it safely across the old wooden bridge! I'm glad you finally found your way home!
i've been on a few of those 'uh oh' roads before. very scary! sure hope it wasn't at night, too! glad you made it back!
Thanks for stopping by. I have
been negligent in commenting

You could have been robbed out in
the boonies. I love to stay close
to the City back roads are scary
to me. Glad the bridge did cave
in and you got back home OK.
You always write a very good blog.

Hey, on the two missions trips I went on, we slept in Eagle Pass I think... if it's the down just across the border from Piedras Negras. We slept in a church in Eagle Pass, and every morning we would head to Mexico for the day.
I have to say that was really a scary story. I am glad you found your way home!!!
Thank goodness you made it home safely!
Hang in there Paula. It won't be long now. I can totally understand your frustration.
