Kids Will Be Kids

Yeee Haa it's raining in south Texas, our company is gone, our laundry is done, and the house is cleaned. Before it started raining we put out two large bales of hay since it is hard to get to the hay yard in wet weather and the weathermen had warned us it was coming. For once they were correct only it just didn't come as soon as they said it would. While we were at the ranch we released the two new Angus bull calves who have been in the pens to "locate". To get used to their new home and not run away looking for their mama since they were just weaned. When John opened the gate they could have gone to the right to an open field or straight ahead where a few cows and the big boy bull was eating. They chose to join the cows and the bull and be seen and act like kids. They started kicking up sand and butting each other's heads. Then one of them tried to butt one of the boss cow's head. The other cows and the bull looked as if they were thinking kids will be kids. We stayed around long enough to see if they were going to blend in and not try to run off. Everything looked peaceful. John has gone to On The Farm to get mineral in large tubs so we will probably have to put that out this afternoon near the farm house as it is still raining.

I imagine that was a cute sight to see with the little ones acting up. I remember when we had calves, they would annoy their mamas so much. Glad you are getting the promised rain.

Glad that it is now quite at your house. Calves can be cute when they are small.

I love it when the babies butt heads! Sometimes they'll even go up and challenge a cow, and if she is in the mood, she'll play with them awhile.

Well I know you enjoyed your company - but it is nice to have your home back! And your house is clean and laundry done! So you must feel pretty good. sandie

I know you're glad things are back to normal. I keep begging Sheila to stay a little longer with us, but I think her husband keeps begging her to come home. Lol.
We only get to see them about twice a year it's just different when it's our kids. Lol. Take care. Jean
