Mixed Emotions

We left the ranch with mixed emotions this morning. The west part has gone up for sale with attention on commercial frontage. I know I've said this before. The orginal owners have passed and the three children each own a piece of the land making John have three landlords . The owner of the west property recently passed making three owners on that part so they have decided to sell. With the oil boom it is in it's prime now so we can't blame them. However we're sad. When it sells there will be no more driving to the back forty. So many memories! He does still have a five year contract on the middle property with the cattle pens, stock tank, and farm house. A five year lease on the east property too so we'll see what happens. Maybe he can lease from the new owners if they just want to put an oil business on the frontage. After feeding the cattle we made a big circle around the country roads. So nice there are still some left with no traffic and deer crossing. In fact some of the deer stopped to look at us. Makes me think someone feeds them and they had hope. Sorry we had to disappoint them.

sad. but understandable, too. multiple heirs make it easier to just sell and divide. *sigh*

That would make me have a heavy heart also. Maybe he will be able to at least continue to lease the 2 properties. I hope so.

Sometimes change is good but I understand the sadness. We can relate., ours involving easements. All of your memories, no one can ever take those away. Will you still have access to feed the turtles? Thank God for country roads.

Good tale, but sad. Things change and we humans dislike change. Well as long as you have 5 yrs on the 2/3's, one never knows the changes in 5 yrs, that is for sure.

Sometime progress is hard - change it tough - I hope they let him rent the property too.
