Animals Play Games Too

We don't always go to the ranch on Sunday but since we have some things to do tomorrow we went to feed the cows and check to see if they are okay. John has been seeing that one mama has been nursed but she hasn't brought her calf up with he herd and it's gett ing past time. He is worried the baby may be sick or weak so we went looking. We noticed this particular mama had left the herd so we went looking for her to see if she had gone to her calf. We found her in the middle of a field near the house along but no calf. We drove all around and she would stop grazing to watch us. We know she didn't want to let on where her baby is hid. She walked away toward the stock tank and when she thought we weren't looking she went back to that same field. We decided to go home and not aggravate her anymore today. We'll check on it again. Maybe by time we go back out she will have brought it up and hope the baby is okay. When we were eating supper we were watching the hummingbirds tease Susie. As I said before she could catch them but is not interested. They would fly down near her in front of her face. She would put her head down in her paws where she was resting on the air/conditioner with an angry look on her face. Animals have such different personalities as humans do.

I was just telling Joe yesterday how Spunky has A LARGE amount of tricks. He doesn't want us to know when we are moving around that he is checking to see what we are doing. As soon as we look at him he Puts his head down and closes his eyes. I catch him more than Joe cause I am on to him. I hope you find mom and a strong calf.

This is an entry that brings us back for more. You come up with the best stuff. Hope the calf is okay, I had never thought of how cows keep their young out of sight until reading here.
Susie is fooling you, one day that girl is going to have hummingbird feast!!! LOL
(((HUGS))) from this side of the Gulf. Don't be stingy, sent Spring on this way....

I prefer the various animal personalities to the various human animal ones.~Mary

YEP. Animals have individual personalities, just like people do. But they are more fun to watch.

Yes, animals are a personality all their own, but they protect their young just like we do. I'm sure when she's ready, mama cow will show off her youngster. I'm sure everything is alright. As for those hummers, they better not aggravate Susie too much or she'll develop a snack attack. lol

I hope the little calf is safe and ok. And I guess I never thought of bigger animals or farm animals as having different personalities - very interesting. sandie
