No Searching Today

When we drove down the lane and passed the farm house there she was, Josie. Between the front yard fence and a fence to the front field is a large space for vehicles to park. Just in the area we have been wanting her to be, near water and green grazing. When she heard the truck she got up on her feet, waiting. She hadn't had her breakfast yet. We drove on back to where John feeds the cows and here came her Mama wanting her "hand out". She knew where her baby was and knew it needed feeding but she also wanted to be fed. She was having to make a hard decision. She stood in the gate and mooed loudly for her baby to come to her which she didn't. So we called the Mama to follow us and we drove to where her baby was and John fed her a pile of cubes near the baby. Josie nursed while Mama ate her cubes. We spent time with them and then went back to finish the other chores. Mama brought Josie to the back where we were. Josie is learning to walk beside her Mama instead of always following. She seems to be able to sense when there is a post or fence in front of her, so that's good. We found another new calf yesterday and one today. Also saw one of our wild turkey hens come to the stock tank for water.

I'm glad Josie is doing so well. I wonder if she has a little bit of sight when things are up close to her.

You and your hubby are such good people....so kind. God bless you and little Josie. You make me tear up telling such heart-warming tales about this little calf. You should write a children's book about her. What a moral there would be about not giving up to adversity. Hugs.
