How Far Can You Travel?

I seem to have a thing about lost earrings lately. Yesterday when doing yard work one of my earrings fell out of one my pierced ears. I was working with gloves and couldn't put it back in so easy so I put it on the bumper of my truck. A little discussion followed. one side of me saying you're going to forget and drive off and lose the earring. The other side said it will only be there a short time. You will remember and pick it up and reinsert it in your ear. Middle of night I remember and tell self I must get my earring before I drive off in the morning. In the middle of my appointment on Main street I remember earring again. I can't wait to get back  to the street to look on my bumper. Could it possible be there after driving a mile and a half? Wonder what the lady behind me waiting for my parking space thought when I went to the back of my truck and picked something up off the bumper before driving off? I'm not a big jewelry person but I like my earrings and I've earned them. When I was 13 I wanted to have my ears pierced sooo bad but my Mama didn't want me to knowing how afraid of needles I was. She finally gave in but said if I had one done I could not back out with the second one no matter if it hurt. I went across the street to our Hispanic neighbor who wasn't afraid of needles and sticking them into anyone's ear and drawing thread through and tieing a little knot making a circle to pull on  everyday until they healed. Mama was right. When the first was done I started feeling faint and was thinking of backing out when Mama walked in the back door. Amelia the Hispanic lady brought out her bottle of whiskey. They gave me a shot that revived me enough to get the other ear pierced. It was too yucky to pull the thread through so I was very lax in taking care of them, they got infected, they were a long time healing. I love my earrings and hardly go anywhere without a pair on. Even if I'm not wearing a pair that match I will wear a small pair of loops so they never have a chance to grow closed.

I wanted to pierce one ear for a big gold loop and grow my hair so I could plait it like the old sailors, BUT Sherry would not let me. Wives can be so un-understanding.
YOu are one lucky lady that it was still there. IO bought a new hammer and had it on the first job. I laid it on my back bumper and someone wanted a drink from the store and I lost the hammer. MUCH bigger than an ear ring, it ain't fair. LOL

Always smile after reading Paula!!

Laughing @ me. It sounds like I wear unmatched earrings. I meant I wear earrings to match the clothes I have on.

WOW. You got your ears done the hard way. My earlobe tore twice so I needed reconstructive work done on it so I could wear earrings again. So I understand how you feel losing one.

Isn't that frustrating> I just through dusting it is. Then I decided to shower and there in the top of out enclosure or liner we put in was the lonely lost earring , Not expensive but I liked them.

I would have forgotten, too.

I didn't get my ears pierced until I was in my 30's. My daughter had hers pierced first, then my mom. They told me it didn't hurt. They lied. I cried all the way out of the mall. Maybe because it was such a painful experience, I didn't keep them in like I should and they grew back together. I would never endure that pain again. Apparently, I have very sensitive ear lobes. Maybe that's why I love for Hubby to kiss them. :)

I was grown and married before I had my ears pierced and even such a chicken I went to a dr., who at that time, would numb you first and then pierce. I even went so far later on as having a second hole in each ear, but they have since grown up and I just keep an earring in the original holes.

Wow! What a story. I've never heard of this particular string method. I couldn't have handled that! No wonder you love your earrings!
