Rain Beautiful Rain

We had a nice rain here in town so we couldn't wait to go to the ranch to see how much it rained there where we need it most. As par for the course we didn't have near as much but ever little bit is appreciated. It was so cool out there it was an enjoyable drive with the windows down looking for the cows. At first we couldn't find a single one. They were all grazing and seemed to be relaxing and enjoying the cooler weather too. on the back forty. Even Josie and her mama were on the back forty. I spent some time petting and hugging Josie. She seems to like the deformed part of her head to be rubbed. Now I can denote two little stubs popping through her skin. Wonder how long her horns will be. Her mama loves us so much she follows us every step we take when we are in the same area with her. Actually she loves the cubes we give her when we have some with us but I like to pretend she loves us. She doesn't care how much we pet her calf. We have worried about Josie going to the stock tank with the herd and walking into the water and getting confused and drowning, not knowing which way to go to get out of the water. John's daughter thinks she would just back out when she felt the water on her legs. We haven't seen her grazing yet but surely it will come naturally to her and chewing a cud and all. She is funny when she gets ready to nurse she walks all around her mama and then zooms in on a certain side to nurse. John thinks she may have a little bit of sight on one side and can see better to nurse from a certain side. Josie has been an experience for us and she is still so cute and lovable.

Your interaction with Josie and her momma is sweet. And I believe they do love you.

I do think animals love us as we love them and show attention to them.

Josie is a pet and I hope grows up to be an independent sighted animal. It has been interesting following her on your blog. I never realized things like that happened to animals.

Josie has been plucked from obscurity by you Paula. I do believe we have a Josie Fan Club here. ~Mary
