Just a country girl kicking around the dirt roads taking pictures of trees, gates, animals. cactus, and anything else that strikes my un-fancy mind. You are welcome to take a look and come back if you like.

Wheels Of The Past
In looking at pictures tonight at The Runaround Ranch Report blog ( one of my favorite blogs for pictures) I was reminded of where I got the wagon wheel on my header picture. I've guarded it through thick and thin and moved it twice myself. My deceased husband, Mel was working for several weeks on the east side of San Antonio helping to get a place ready for kids to hang out playing games. Sort of a place to keep kids out of trouble after school when their parents were working. Mel met some men there working also and they talked about different things while working. Some how the subject of old things came up and that they would sell some old wagon wheels. Mels ears perked up and he talked me into going with him to see what they had. When we drove up to the address I was a little on the skeptical side. The yard was grown up and it looked as if no one had lived in the house for a long time. It was in the city but was kind of deserted. I would have just as soon drove off and forgot about it but Mel wanted to see what they had for sale so we looked and priced. He ended up filling the back of his pick-up with iron wheels for a reasonable price. Over the years I sold off all but my favorite, the one on my header.

Ah, sweet memories. When we lived in N.Central Missouri, my dad who was born and raised on a farm wanted to know if I could get him some old wagon wheels. I found some at an auction and took them back to North Carolina for him. I think that was the best thing I ever done. He love those wheels.
I know you love THAT wheel. COOL and SWEET. You are one of a kind. Paula lady.
I like the wagon wheel on your header photo and I'm glad you told the story of how you aquired it. I'm sure there are lots of memories connected with that wheel.
