Painting With A Twist

My girls have been trying to twist my arm to go with them to Painting With A Twist and I was just not interested. I cannot even draw a stick figure that looks like a stick figure. For my birthday we did the usual fun and nice things. Lunch, cards, nice presents, and birthday cake. Then a surprise that they wouldn't tell me where we were going except saying things like bungee jumping and things they know I would be too old and too chicken to do if I wasn't old. I could have rung their necks when I saw they had paid for all of us to paint a picture. But it's a turtle they say, you can draw that. I'm thinking everyone is going to laugh me outta this place but what can I do? I'm with them and they paid for it. Most of you probably know and maybe most have painted a picture at one of these places but for those who may not know I'll explain. There is several rows of stools with small easels on a table in front of you. There is a can of water with a two brushes, large and small. A paper plate in front of each person with about six different colors of paint in little piles. There is a large easel on a stage with a picture on it and an instructor. The picture of the day was a turtle. The instructor directed us step by step how to cover the entire base picture with blue like water. Then we started the turtle. First turn a clean paper plate upside down and draw around it, that's the body. From there we painted in legs, the head, then the shell and outlined the whole thing. Would you believe when we got through it looked like a picture of a colorful turtle? I tried to veer off on my own a little to make my turtle match a new comforter I just bought for my bedroom. This morning Leah took me by a Goodwill on the way bringing me home. I found the perfect fitting black frame. No one laughed at my painting and it is already on my wall. From a distance it looks like it matches my comforter. Up close not so perfect but it was fun.

oh, that's cool that they surprised you (as you'd have said no, otherwise) and that it turned out well and you can frame it and enjoy it! :) no, i've never heard of one of these places.

I can't draw either, but most of my children and grandchildren can. What a nice surprise from your children and what a good time you had. I hope you will post your picture for us to see. Take care. Jean

That's actually a fantastic birthday present, because you created it yourself! I'm glad you framed it. It will be a nice keepsake.
And it's a lot better than bungee jumping!!!!

They just put one of those places in at a strip here on the road beside us. I might just have to go and try my hand at it since you enjoyed it! And you're my twin! :) So glad you had a good time and that your painting looks like it matches your comforter, even if it is from across the room! Sounds like a lot of fun!
