Welcome Back Jack

I was so excited this morning to see a jackrabbit on the ranch. I have to admit he/she wasn't as big as the rabbits in this picture but there was no mistaking those tall ears. Our county used to be full of jackrabbits. Over the years something has happened to them. Wild hogs eat them and people like to road hunt. The last time we saw one was a few years ago in another county in a country cemetary. We only saw one but I figure there must have been a Mom and Dad somewhere and so one is a start. We do have some cottontails and I like them too but there is nothing like those big ears hopping up and down to excite a country girl.

Exciting to see something actually coming back. Of course, all we see here are the little cottontails.

I'm so 'h o pp y' for you. We have Cottontails and Snowshoes but I have never seen a Jackrabbit this far north. Maybe you will be having a true comeback of those Ears...

I don't know if we have jack rabbits. I think not. We have plenty of cotton tails. They sit on one side of the fence and tease Spunky. He has learned to just ignore then.

Now that brings back a memory, when we lived in Beeville TX I recall seeing jack rabbits. I also remember the ears on those things, lol.

I don't know if we have them here, but we have cottontails. We have a Mom rabbit and a couple of babies that hang around the back of our yard. Hope you have a good weekend, Sheila

I remember seeing them when we lived in central Florida in Ocala, never see them here on the coast. We have lots of bunnies but not jackrabbits.

Hope those steroids are agreeing with you ok. Be careful not to overdo things too much!

I think animals know they will live a long life around you. Look at Susie, with all she has been through she has had more lives than Shirley MacLaine. ~Mary
