Little Sad Dance Boots

Little sad dance boots don't dance no more, they used to really tear up that floor.

The dance hall closed, the people all vanished. Buckles on her boots, getting quite tarnished.

Two stepping, waltzing, line dance too, those little dance boots feel so blue.

Hid in a box far under the bed, their color holds up with a pretty vivid red.

Someday maybe they will come alive, dancing and happy they will really jive.

No that's just a dream they won't come alive, but as I told an old line dance buddy I ran in to today, we have our memories. I haven't seen her in a while and didn't know she has to use a walker to even walk now. I don't even remember her name and I'm sure she didn't remember mine there were so many of us. She still had a pretty face and a pretty smile and she complimented me too.

Yes, sad but real. Memories even to boots mean a lot. But more to the lady who wore them. I wish I had memories of dances, I never learned how. One day, maybe one day, someoe will teach me.

Smile. Great entry.
And yep, you are still a very pretty lady, you should be on the dance floor.

My daughter who is 38 used to cut up a rug when she was in her 20's. She would actually stop the crowds in the dance halls...her partner throwing her around like she was a rag doll. She misses it. Her hubby doesn't like to dance. Her boots are sitting in a box, too. She used to tell me such tales about her nights out. I wish I could have gone and watched her shine. :) Hugs. Hope there's dancing in Heaven!!!

LOVE the poem. We used to go dancing too, but aging knees and a bad back stop us from going now.

Oh yes, brings back memories. I used to go to "Sunset" with the kids dad. Mostly polka but some country. To bad those days are gone. In some ways they were the good old days and in others they were pretty rough compared to life now days.

I never got to see
my parents dance together
but, I heard
they could cut a rug
put your boots on, Paula
and
turn up the radio
even if nobody is watching :)
