Please Help Me To Keep My Foot Off The Gas

Today was my court date for the speeding ticket Grandma Paula got a couple of weeks ago. Someone had told me I could go early and they would let me take care of it. I went two or three times and the Judge was either at a meeting or at the court house. I was beginning to think they didn't even want my money. So today I made sure I was there in plenty of time before my 10:00 a. m. court time and was told the Judge isn't in. The secretary remembered me and said she was sorry I had to come so many times but could I come back this afternoon. Oh geeeze I'm getting tired of looking at that little room but what else could I do? Then she said or you can come at noon because we don't go to lunch until later. I was there on time and they took me right in. Wow, the Judge even met me at the door to lead me into her office. Guess I've been watching too much Judge Judy and shows like that. She was very personable and even talked about rain like everyone in our county does. Is it going to and how bad we need it. I told her right off I would like to be able to keep it off my record so she gave me three choices. I've had those driving courses many times in the past to get a cut on my insurance and I'm not in the mood to do that. I could have paid a lesser amount and be on probation for a longer time but I just wanted to get it over with as soon as I can. Of course they won't accept cash or a personal check so I had to go to the bank to get a casher's check or money order for $217.10. There goes some of my income tax refund, nothing fun for me. When I took the casher's check back I looked at it and realized the bank had left the ten cents off. Oh shoot! I went on in and ask if I could pay the ten cents in cash really thinking they would say no but they took the ten cents. So now this old grandma is on probation for a month and $217.10 poorer. After the month if I don't get heavy on the gas I go back and sign a paper and hope I have learned my lesson. The cops in our town mean business since the oil boom hit town.

Yikes the price has gone way up!! Good luck with that gas peddle, I think everyone has sped up! I wish they would nail more people for running red lights and not using their turn signals...saw a lot of that this evening in our small town!

Long ago, the cops in MY town [when I lived in Colorado] knew me by my first name. They were always pulling me over.

Good luck on your probation period. Been there, done that.

WOW, over $200 and not even reckless driving? I will be more careful in Texas, that is for sure. Betty out in California was talking $400 tickets for small infractions. Things have changed since my $35 ticket!

But glad it is over!!!! That is if you B Good it is over!!! Now you have the hammer over your head.. LOL

Sherry just called my attention to a beautiful young lady (on FB) who graduated in 1954. NICE! She doesn't look like a speeder!

I'm glad my ticket at Wal-Mart was only $5.00.ha. Around here you can send in your money or pay it at the police station,(Me think.)That was the only one I've gotten in say 20 years. Ha. I must have been lucky not getting caught speeding. I do think you paid too much for no more over speed limit. I think sometimes they just want to make money off of us seniors. Take care. Jean

I never had a speeding ticket by sheer luck I didn't get caught. However I got a ticket for no seat belt as I was coming out of the library then he tacked on pulling out in front of him. He motioned me out. I paid 100.00 for that.

I can't believe they made you cough up the $.10 lol....Last time I got a ticket I took the risk and said "not guilty" and got to walk out because the police officer did not show up, and my case got tossed out....

Yikes! That was a hefty fine. The last time I got a ticket was in Tennessee on the way home from Florida, with Eler Beth several years ago. I think I did the online course for that one and mailed my fine, which I think was around $80.00.
