Head Count

I think the wild animals are happy to have their territory back. Since the farm house has been vacant for several months the wild animals are all coming up nearer the house to  look for food. Three does probably nipping on the cows hay,  three jackrabbits not guilty that we could see. One cottontail waiting near where I leave pellets. I was able to creep up very near it by talking softly and not making any sudden moves. Then there is the country rat. Have you ever seen a county rat? They are big. John got too close to a nest with the pear burner and scared it out of it's nest. It ran between his feet and at first he thought it was a snake. After we made our rounds and came back near the pens there were two wild turkey hens eating out of the cow tubs. There is usually three so one must have been minding some eggs. The two just walked off into the brush, not in much of a hurry. Going to be a hot dry summer and all the animals are getting hungry and thirsty.

What a lovely gathering of animals you have. ENJOY them all, except the rats.

It was a tough winter here as well and the critters keep coming closer for better pickins....

I tried to comment this afternoon
but my computer was doing its own
thing. Speaking of animals getting hungry and thirsty. I looked out this afternoon and a raccoon was eating the birds food. I got my sling shot out and shot its way twice and he just look at the rock as it went by and kept eating. I guess it was hungry. I have found the animals that come by at night will eat anything but baked beans. "A mystery".

Missouri is dry too. I'm getting really tired of this, but the weather does what it's going to do.
