Bunnies Missing In Action

I haven't seen the cottontails in a while, at least the ones near the farm house. I know something has to have happened to scare them away and I imagine I know what it is. As I said before the grandson of the owner is fixing up the house to move in. He has been spending more time out there and it is looking nice on the inside. He is starting to install a tall fence enclosing the house and a rather large area to the east. It looks like he plans a large garden so you know what that means. Bunnies eat vegetables. One day while grandson was working I put some lettuce and odds and ends under the old water tank. I think he went out to see what I put there and he must have shot at the old water tank because it is starting to come down piece by piece and no bunnies in sight early in the morning. I'm thinking he shot to scare them away while they were eating and they haven't been back unless in the dark of night. I hope he didn't have a big pot of rabbit soup. I'm sad to see them go and I'm glad I enjoyed them when they were close. I can't say anything to him as the place is not mine but probably will be his someday. I don't pay the lease, John does, and it doesn't include rabbit safety. I understand having a nice garden and not wanting it to disappear and it certainly could with that amount of rabbits. Now I hope my turtles don't vanish into thin air.

A shame about the rabbits. But the fact you got to enjoy them for as long as you did is a good thing.

We have gophers over rabbits in our yard...my neighbor tries to grow a garden too and its a fight, lol. I think the gophers are winning.

so sad
I hope you see
your hop-hops again

frustrating when you lease and have no say in what happens. So nice for us to be finally living on our own place and yes I have a say! As to the rabbits and deer I use liquid fence from Lowes, it does the job! Especially on the flowers beds. But on our garden we also put up a 7ft fence just in case the neighbors horses and cows get out and come visiting.

It is funny - what is one person's joy is another persons trouble(?).

I remember the year I did the garden blog and never got much of anything besides hot peppers because the bunnies ate it all and I enjoyed watching them do it :) I still go down and feed my turtles at the pond too. I hope this guy you are talking about doesn't like turtle soup!!
