The 12th Is Still Columbus Day To Me

My deceased husband's birthday would have been yesterday. He was born on Columbus Day and his parents didn't have a name picked out and couldn't decide on one so the doctor put Columbus on his birth certificate. His parents had to go to the court house to change his name to Melvin. That's the story I always heard anyway. I'm almost finished reading Carol Burnett's book "One More Time". I always loved her show and it could always give me such a good laugh. Now I know where she got all those funny characters. Her family truly put the D in dysfunctional.

What an interesting story about the name. I like Carol Burnett too.

I can't believe that a doctor would put Columbus on a birth certificate. What was he thinking?

Love Carol Burnett.

You know I had forgotten the ability of good comedians to make me belly laugh. I miss sitting in front of a TV and hearing (seeing) things that about had you rolling in the floor. I seldom get the real laugh anymore. Thanks for the 'rememberies'.

I meant to say, I'd bet the 'Columbus' story did make a good story through out Mel's life I am sure.(smile)

That tree at the top has character. Passed down stories are fun to hear. I hope you are having a good week so far. Take care, Sheila
