I've Been Hungry For An Old Fashioned Hamburger

The kind they made at the only little café in our town. The kind they made up about a dozen, wrapped and stacked in a dish pan to hand out. The kind that cost less then a quarter. The kind that Old Hut the only black man in our town had to wait at the back door of the café to buy. Last night I was reading Facebook on a site where people in this area can buy and sell. Someone ask where can you buy a good hamburger in this area? Most commenters said Home Plate at a small community north of here. Seems good old fashioned hamburgers have gone up to $5.00 or a small one for $4.00. I thought we were going to look Home Plate up today but when John came home from feeding the cattle he had in mind to go buy more feed at Poth. Guess I'll just be hungry for an old fashioned hamburger a little longer.

In my opinion, the best hamburger/cheeseburger is the one I make myself, at home.

Hope you get to get that hamburger. When you do, ENJOY!

It's really difficult to find a good hamburger nowadays. In California it used to be at Mel's or In and Out (I think In and Out is still in existence).

Best bet is to make your own at home, as Donna said.

I love the Cow fast food! Don't you like folks with an imagination?
Now to the Burger. We had a place in our town like that the nest thing was the What a burger. It went out of business years ago. Then when we entered Texas on a trip what did I see but a What a Burger. We found a parking place and walked back to order a What a Burger.

It wasn't a 1950's WHAT A BURGER! But it wasn't bad...
But I do know what you mean!

Love the cartoon!
I was saying just yesterday how I could go for a hamburger where the beef was raised in MN. It took me literally years to get used to the taste of beef down here.(TN)

Just this morning, Hubby and I split a bacon double cheeseburger at Sonic....it has mayonnaise, tomatoes, lettuce, bacon and lots of juicy grease!!! We eat their jr. cheeseburgers a lot for breakfast, but they are not juicy like the bacon double cheeseburger. If you have a Sonic near, you ought to try one. It's a big burger. I'd bet you and John need to have it cut in half like Hubby and I do. And I loved the fast food cartoon, too!

We had a chain of restaurants called Royal Castle back in the day and they made the best "grease burgers" in town.

To date myself, the hambugers were 15 cents each and an ice cold birch beer was 8 cents.

The only place where we could get a good hamburger was Colonial Pub, which hand made every burger. Still miss those bad boys.

Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!

There's nothing like a good burger. There is a place near Fredericksburg called Alamo Springs Cafe, rated one of the top hamburger joints in Texas, and where all the bikers stop on their road trips. Amazing burgers, too big for one person to eat! Happy 2015.

When we're traveling or just out and about in areas we aren't familiar with, we'll always stop at any little burger joint or ice cream shop we see to test their burgers. Sometimes we find a place that has burgers that taste the way I remember them tasting. The only place near hear that comes close is Culver's. They have those buttered buns, and the meat is patted thin with a little bit of a crisp on the edges, and just enough grease to make it taste just right! Hope you get your old-fashioned burger soon!
