Then The Mama Went To The Vet

When my husband was alive a charcoal colored dog came to our house and wouldn't leave. We had no idea what breed she was or part of but she had so much hair and some of it hung in her face. What could we do but keep her she liked us and she had such a good personality. When I was doing yard work I could leave the gate open because she would not go out of the back yard. We had never had a dog with such good behavior. Soon she had this litter of giant puppies. We found good homes for all but one and we kept it and named it B.G. for burglar guard. Dolly went to the vet to be spayed and B.G. grew to be a very large dog but not as much hair as Dolly his Mama. After Mel died I decided to find a home for him and just keep Dolly. He could put away a lot of chow and I was going on trips out doing things with other widows. I found a man who liked him and wanted him. The day the man came for him B.G. left riding straight up in the passenger side of the man's car. It looked like they were both smiling and had instantly bonded as man and his dog. You can see we weren't expecting puppies by the makeshift puppy yard and you can see that dog house wasn't large enough to house this bunch.

awww. glad you were able to find homes for all the pups - even later for b.g. :)

Some dogs and people are meant to be together.
They were definitely big puppies!

I always wonder when I hear a story like that, who would not want such a nice friendly dog if they had raised it?
But the story had a good ending. I liked that: BG riding off into the sunset with a cowboy. (in my mind anyway!)

What a sweet story, and so happy the man and his dog have a new life together.

It's kind of you to have welcomed a stray dog. Dolly was very lucky to have stumbled upon your home. I'm sure she is having an amazing time with the man who adopted her from you. Thanks for sharing that touching story with us, Paula! I wish you all the best! :)
