Hummingbirds Are Right On Time

The Hummingbirds always arrive here at our house on March 15th. I could set my calendar by them. I wanted to have the sugar water ready so I didn't have to wait for it to cool down when I saw the first one. I went ahead and put one feeder out in the front. Late yesterday afternoon John started shrieking for me to come see. It doesn't take much to excite us in our old age. Sure enough there was one hummingbird drinking. In the past we've had two couples. Last year we had enough that it was hard to count them. We have our feeder positioned so that we can watch from inside the house. One by the kitchen table and one we can see from where we sit in the living room. What a delightful show they put on for us.

Humming birds are fun to watch. The last year we fed them, they came in such numbers it wore us out trying to keep sugar water made up. They will still come and drink off the huge cedar tree (dew) in our front yard in the mornings, but I'm seldom out there to see it.

All birds are amazing. It is hard for me to imagine how geese migrate and find their way, BUT the Humming bird is the most amazing tome, how those little things do it I will never know. but they are fun.

Wow! I'm glad something is on time. The past few years our bluebonnets have been blooming on March 15. This year I can't imagine when we might see them. Have you seen any down your way yet?

How Exciting!!!
I had Bud take one out for the chance we had an early arrival. I haven't seen any as of yet, but look forward to the first one for the season.

I'm elated. I too love watching them.

This is Anni, at Hootin' Anni's...but I'm in my bird photo admin this afternoon.

I think hummingbirds are neat. I don't believe we have any in Miami. I saw a video the other day of one sitting on a man's hand and drinking the sugar water. How cool !
