Just a country girl kicking around the dirt roads taking pictures of trees, gates, animals. cactus, and anything else that strikes my un-fancy mind. You are welcome to take a look and come back if you like.

More Rain
We had more rain and a storm last night. I can't ever remember it raining so much in south Texas. However I do remember the drought of the 50's when it seemed it would never rain again. Being young it was scary to think what if it never rains again. Over twenty years ago we lived in the farm house on the ranch for fourteen months. It was dry then. The field in front of the house was plowed up and when the wind blew and it did a lot, the dirt came in under the doors and around the window unit air conditioners. Another time to really think about water and appreciate it. The last few months have brought us beautiful rain but with storms too. It's been a long time since I could walk the cattle tank dam and feed the turtles. It's been a long time since we could drive to the back forty to check the fences and see the wild turkeys. I keep thinking it will cut off like a faucet and we will be begging and praying for water. As for now the stock tank is full and running around. The dry creek bed is full of water. Everything is green and the cows are healthy.

Yesterday, here, no rain. Cloudy and humid tho. This morning as I type this up, the thunder can be heard in a distance.
As long as the storms aren't damaging, let 'er rain!!!!
I'm glad that you're getting so much desperately-needed rain. Hopefully it will be a good year.
(it's raining here right now in Tennessee)
This might go down as the wettest year yet (except for California and AZ). WE have rain again today. All Winter Florida was a swamp.
I see you dancing in the RAin, Cowgirl.
From NC....
I just have to ditto my comment of yesterday.
we got two inches of rain last night, too. i will take every drop and be grateful - like you, i figure it will stop soon enough...
We seem to have our share of rain here, also more than normal hailstorms, I wonder what's up with that?
It has rained here to. We did have three pretty days this week, but this morning at 6:00 AM we were under a tornado warning with the sirens going off. The sun did come out for a few hours, but looks stormy now.
I can vividly picture how it is. Beautiful times. :)
Sounds like heaven! The driest year we have ever had on this side of Texas in my lifetime was a few years ago. There were almost constant burn bans. Fine, powdery dust rose up like baby powder every time anything moved across the ground. But the weirdest for me, was that all of the grass in our yard died, turned brown and would crunch when you walked on it. I never want to experience that again! I'd rather go through another Rita than to go through that.

It has seemed like ages since weather behaved like what is expected of it. As is often said, "like the good old days." Well, phooy, it's usually dry here in Montana, but never as dry as it is so far this year. Barely any snow this winter, either. Everyone's climate seems tossed upside down.
Glad you are getting some good rain. Hope your weekend is going well. Take care, Sheila
