Just a country girl kicking around the dirt roads taking pictures of trees, gates, animals. cactus, and anything else that strikes my un-fancy mind. You are welcome to take a look and come back if you like.

Mother Nature Has Our Number
I can just hear her saying "I'll teach them to complain about hot and dry". We thought we got rain yesterday, she doubled it today. The streets were like rivers. Not able to drive to the park to feed the ducks. Hope they didn't drown. A friend south of town sent pictures. Her back yard is a swimming pool. I'm not talking mud puddles, I'm talking you can barely see her lawn furniture. The lake at the end of our street was just about to dry up so they could continue getting ready to build houses or apartments. Now the lake is back. They barely get some of the chug holes patched and the water washes them out again. I just try to drive slow and straddle them. I've not cried "uncle" yet Anni. I love the rain but wouldn't like it in my house. I'm sorry for people who do have damage from the rain. We're lucky to have good drainage here and in most of our town now. I think we still have 40% for several days. It was 40% chance of rain today. Won't be driving on the ranch roads anytime soon.

Sorry to hear about the flooding in your area. Mother Nature can certainly wreak havoc. I pray the rain clears up soon.
Flooding is miserable. But then, any weather extreme is.
our areas are releasing water from lakes for the first time in years. 4 years of drought appear to be over. i, too, hate that folks suffer with flooding (and tornadoes).
We have a good chance for rain for the next 4 days, we can use it. That little rain shower we had the other day was the first in quite a while and didn't help much with the dust. I can't complain. (about the rain - now, the humidity is a whole different animal)
It's still raining and has rained all morning. The train that goes through here derailed. Thank goodness it's only empty boxcars.
No...nor I. It's a long way yet to go before crying uncle for me too.
Altho, just about an hour ago, another deluge of a storm. Alerts going off on our phones like crazy...and we're now under tornado watches 'til 6:30 pm.
I truly think the 'lakes' are much better than the terrible drought from the past few years. We need it so. And it's actually NICE to see a 'normal' coastline full of tidal pools here and there once again.
Flooding indoors and damage from fallen power lines/trees is another thing, but we humans are a strong breed...we can handle it.
You and Anni can hold out as long as you want. We had another downpour today and rain forecast for the next seven. I'm ready to go back to the desert.
I know you can use the rain but it's bad when it all comes at once. take care, Sheila
RAin, needed but it does cramp one's style (and travel)
Love from here...
It would be nice if it fills the dry lakes....
What's the expression, boom or bust? I imagine out where you live, it's been dry so long, lots of folks probably didn't even realize they had built on a low spot.
