Owl On Guard

My garden (one tomato plant) is doing well except for one bird peck in one of my nine tomatoes. My friend who just retired called to suggest I get an owl. I already have one for when I was trying to discourage the swallows from nesting under my front porch. It didn't scare them but I'm trying it on the birds that like to pick on tomatoes. He does look mean, don't you think?

I definitely would not want to mess with that owl. He looks fierce. Hope he keeps your tomatoes safe. Good Luck.

I hope it works, I wish I had even that size garden.
I am doing nothing this year.... And I miss it.

Oh to have those pesky birds eating my tomatoes just wouldn't go well with me.

I remember my father used to make streamers of the shiny ribbon and stake them throughout his garden...that worked. So if your owl doesn't scare them away, try the ribbons that 'dance' in the wind...make them on uneven stakes -he use coat hanger wire and some on dowel. Tree branches would work for the dowels I'm sure.

I'd say the tomatoes weren't worth the risk if I was a bird.
