Rain Rain And More Rain

Is it raining in south Texas! I had promised John I would drive him to the eye doctor today. The specialist comes out here on Tuesday to perform surgery and on Wednesday to see patients. Since John had some serious work done two weeks ago he really needed to be checked and see what further work would be done. We left early in a downpour pondering at the end of the street which way should we chance to go. We took the highway with big trucks splashing over the windshield, the truck swaying in the deep water, but we made it with a sigh of relief. A few more patients were showing up dripping their umbrellas all over the floor and making jokes about swimming in. After a while one of the clerks came out to say the doctor had turned around and went back to San Antonio due to the weather. Everyone's appointment would be cancelled and they would call tomorrow to reschedule. Now which way to go home? The highway with people driving crazy and trucks splashing or the around about narrow country road with some low places? I chose the country road. Lots of water on the side of the roads but surprisingly the low places were not bad. Now when he gets his new appointment it will probably be a long wait since he will be seeing the appointments for that day and the ones for this day. Maybe should take a snack that day. I'm still not complaining about the rain but I drew a sigh of relief when we pulled into the drive-way.

I can understand why he turned around and went back to San Antonio tho...safety first especially when it comes to life over accidents/death!!

Thing is, it's been a frustrating two days. For us too. Yesterday, no power for such a long time. Then again this morning a heavy storm dumped MORE on the already saturated ground. Flooded again. And the debris in our yard...not fun. Not looking forward to having to go out ther and clean up the mess. But, after living in Colorado with snow fall and icy roads, this is nothing to complain about. Don't have to scoop water...just wait and it'll recede.

This rain in Texas has been unbelievable...we even got some today in the Hill Country and drove through it all the way to San Antonio and back.

I know you have to be thankful for all that rain, but I also know the challenge of driving in a heavy downpour! So glad y'all made the round trip safely. Doctor wouldn't have known what to think if none of his appointments had shown up!

Driving can be difficult on a rainy day. For you to venture out, get to your destination and then be turned away must have been frustrating for sure. Glad you are safe and the appointment has been rescheduled. A snack sounds like a good idea.

Driving in the rain has become difficult for me, but we could use the rain.
Sorry about the appointment, it is very disappointment to show up and be stood up. (Smile) But at least the rain is good.

Been in that type of situation myself, did a slow burn on the way home only to return a week later.

You still haven't cried uncle, huh? Just wait till the roads start washing out! Tomorrow e're getting the brunt of what you had yesterday!

You can definitely use the rain - - I just pray that there aren't any more tornadoes.

Hate that you made the drive for nothing. Next time, yep, snack and book to read, and crossword or Sudoku puzzles might be in my bag. Glad you were safe and sound at the end of this day.
