Amiga Will Be Her Name

We had to go out early to check the  newcomer cows because there was no water in the pens. This black cow was the first to come over to greet me. The others were behind brush so I didn't get a good picture. They are all calm but wasn't taking any chances. When John unlocked the gate they walked down the lane toward the stock tank full of water. To our surprise they kept walking without a sip of water. We found out later the young man who lives in the house had fixed a leak and filled the trough with water so they drank plenty. John said he didn't sleep well for worrying he had made a mistake. They might be fence crawlers. Maybe too many cows for the hot summer coming. He was down to twenty cows and add nine more new ones. Wouldn't have bothered him in the past. At one time he owned over a hundred on several leases. We drove around following them exploring their new home.

It's so nice to have helpful neighbors.
You are lucky to have your own colostrum. Do you ever drink any after the
newborn calves get theirs? I order the dried powder colostrum from New
Zealand, one place where they have grass feed cows and no chemicals for
the cattle. It has lots of health benefits for humans too. Yay for the babies.
Have a beautiful week.

I have never heard of humans drinking colostrum. I can't wait to ask John if he has ever drank any. How interesting.

Amiga - good name, I like it.

I know less than little about cows, I just think they are beautiful. Glad they are settling.

Raising animals is no small task. They are a huge responsibility and any loss is very expensive.
