Some Are Good And Some Are Bad

Yes I live in cow country but an oil field boom has made it a town with out of towners living here too. I just read something that reminded me of something that happened a few months ago. I came out of my doctor's office and there was an oil field truck parked so near my drivers side I had to get in on the passenger's side and crawl over the console then be careful backing out so as not to hit the truck. How did I know it was an oil field out of towner? They had decals all over bragging about their oil field money. At first it made me very angry. After I though on it I wondered if this person has a grandmother or mother who is ill and pecking on the door of old age. If I had found some paper I would have left a note on their windshield. No not a nasty note, a note that read "God Bless Your Mom and Grandmother". Just to say there are good and bad people everywhere. Yesterday I was ordering two Orange Freezes (they are sooo good) at Taco Bell while four oil field workers were standing a few feet from me waiting for their food. The lady waiting on me and the men were discussing their ages. All were in their forties. One of the men looked at me and said I bet she doesn't agree with us. I said I was just wishing I was forty instead of almost eighty. He said well if I could stand up as straight as you and look as good as you at eighty I hope I live that long. He said my grandmother says the golden years are not so golden. Thank you, you make my day. Just to say you can't always judge people. Some are nice and some are not everywhere.

My son is one of those pipeliners with the big welding truck, stickers all over bragging about how pipeliners are better. I think the business with their trucks is more to compare with one another and to tease welders, helpers, fitters, etc that don't pipeline. I also think some of their bravado is due to the fact they are at the top of their field, as welders. My son better be acting with respect and yes mam and no sir every where he goes! He tells me though that some places the pipeliners who have gone before have left such a bad taste in the peoples' mouths that they have to be careful and stick together for their safety and the safety of all their very expensive equipment. My son tries to find a church to attend in every town he stays in. For that I am grateful.

Something similar happened to me at work...I even took a picture of the culprit vehicle because I was determined to let them have what for if I ever ran into them about their lacking in the parking skill department, lol. Lo, and behold I did run into the person, and was able to find humor in it vice fussing him out over it. Time does heal the frustrations of life....

What a sweet man. You are right, sometimes you can not judge a book by it's cover.

So true. And so I don't believe in first impressions. Some people aren't what they appear to be.
