Does Your Pet Get To Eat Out?

I don't mean outside, I mean in a restaurant. Recently I was eating in a Mexican restaurant in another town. Not a lot of customers so we kind of noticed the others around. One older couple was only a couple of tables from us. They had a baby stroller beside them. The kind that has like a hood that comes down. Not unusual to take your grandkids. About half way through our meal we heard an odd noise. Baby we thought, until it barked. The man did a little arranging in the stroller. They finished their meal and walked out. The lady with me told an employee as we went out you know the Health Department would close you down for that dog being in here. The employee said we have a sign at the door. Another time we were eating at a popular country restaurant. Decorated cute and good food. Two large dogs were lounging on the floor and walking around at times. We noticed when the waitress took dirty dishes to the kitchen the dogs would get up and follow. Did they work there as dish washers? I'm sure this restaurant wasn't under the jurisdiction of any Health Department. Neither time I wasn't bothered a lot but it could lead into something unhealthy. Some people do have pets in their house. My cats missed out, I never took them out to eat.

I am not commenting...LOL I have cats, inside. One does not really want human food, the other loves bacon and will snatch it out of my hand if given a chance. Otherwise, not too interested.

I tried to read back through and see what is going on with your health. I did read chemo. I was sorry to read it. I have been behind in blogging. I first stopped near the end of April cause we were babysitting our granddaughter through the week.

Then hubby had mini stroke July 29 and a major stroke/brain bleed on Aug 2. I can't remember if you read any of the posts about that or not. It has been a long row to hoe...he is home and gets around better than I ever dreamed he would. But still a long way to go with a lot of other stuff. And something now with heart...we go Friday about that.

Have only encountered service dogs in restaurants and they always stay by their owners. I don't think it would bother me if someone came in with one in a buggy, stroller, or even a large purse.

There are many people I've heard say they take their pets EVERYWHERE, but I have never encountered one indoors in an eatery, only at outside cafes eating. When I was a kid our priest always had his shepherd at his masses.

No, my dog went every where with me as a kid, but of course I nor the dog ate out. We both ate what mama fixed.

I think sometimes even the 'service dog' option is over done or taken advantage of. I met and ate with Bill Irwin, the blind guy who hiked the AT with his dog. He brought his dog to the restaurant and the dog sat at is feet during the meal and did not ask for a thing, nor was it offered. Will said, "He is working."

That's a new one on me!! I'd be shutting them down. For one...allergies that others suffer from pet dander. Just to mention one aspect.

Several times when I'm out walking on one particular bike trail, an older couple has a baby stroller....with a DOG in it. Makes me wonder about people sometimes. lol

We were on a flight back to Maryland, and an elderly lady with a carpet bag of a purse got up to leave and opened her purse and there was this ole fellow (dog) in there. You can tell she doted on that critter like it was her baby. No one knew she even had it with her because she kept it under her feet and out of the way. I looked at the purse and was wondering if it had enough air circulation for the ride....i get the service dogs in public areas but mascots is a whole different category that could be argued against...

I'm just not THAT fond of my pets. I don't want to see cats or dogs running around a place where I eat.
