Git 'Em While They're Hot

The things we dyed in the wool south Texans do. We didn't go to church as we usually do. Sooo we had a hankering for tamales. We drove to Poteet, Texas ( strawberry capital of Texas) to Del Rio tamale factory. I didn't check my English/ Spanish dictionary but I think that means "Of The river". A very bright yellow building with a large sign that reads Tamales Original, Jalapeno, Cascaronies, Menuda (sp) and a few other goodies loved by the Hispanic people who live in that small town plus old south Texans like us. They are only open on Saturday and Sunday so you gotta git 'em while they're hot. $8.66 a dozen with tax. John had to stand in the line which was all the way out the door and on the sidewalk. They were so hot we had to put them on the floor board and smell the goodness all the way home. It's not even noon yet and we've already had lunch.

When you talk about traveling to the small towns to find delicious food, you always make me hungry. I am not a tamales eater, but you make me want one.

Love from across the gulf in Florida.

So were they hot in spice too? Hello! Yes I do remember you. And my computer crashed and I lost a lot of addresses and yours was one - I would love it again if you could send it to me. I hope your health is doing okay. I know there were a couple of things. Love, sandie

There is a great little Mexican eatery/market right by me & all I ever get there is eggs & cabbage(from the market). I'm weird. The food & baked goods smell wonderful though.

Tamales yes....Menudo, NO WAY! I tried it once and gagged it down....knowing what it's made of, I won't ever have it again.

And, thank you for your kind words of condolence with my SIL's unexpected passing. Much appreciated.
