Are We There Yet?

We took a ride late this afternoon turning at the sign that read Christine Road in the next town over. Not a good paved road but gravel. We drove and drove until John started getting worried, he couldn't remember where we were. I always tell him we will eventually come to a road or town and know where we are. He has become a real worry wart in his old age. We drove some more and more until he said we may have to turn and go back. Not if I could help it so I kept putting him off. Just wait until we get around this bend, I think Christine will be in sight. Just wait until we go over that hill I think Christine will be in sight. Finally I even started getting a little worried, afraid I was going to be driving in the dark on a lonely country road and not know where we were. Finally we meet a couple of cars and start to see a few old houses. Oh yeah we both breathed a sigh of relief, Christine at last. There is the church where we have gone to picnics in the long ago past. There is the post office we have passed and I stopped to take a picture once because it is a cute little house looking post office. Highway 16 here we come. I picked up speed and we were home before dark. John said this it the last time. I said yes until the next time.

It does look like a lonesome country road. Nope, I wouldn't want to be lost there. It's good that you finally found where you were going!

you can get lost on those country roads pretty easily. better to play it safe. but your instincts paid off.

I said yes until the next time.
I love your attitude, Paula. Unfortunately I've become more John-like about this sort of thing now that I have my disorder. Glad you are not that way.

I took the husband for a ride yesterday way back in the country by the place where he was born and raised. It sure has changed since the last time we drove by. He couldn't remember living there and said it wasn't the place that I must be on the wrong road. I agree it did look a lot different, but I was on the right road. I think he enjoyed the ride even though he thought I was lost. Lol

I always love your drives. Thanks for taking us along. Like Mary, I love your attitude! I always enjoy reading Mary's comments!
John will hang in there!

Oh, that is how we used to always do...get out and drive and not pay any attention to where we are...just know we will eventually come to a road we know. Since Roger's stroke, we don't go on many drives, and I kind of hesitate to just wonder around. Still have fears...

I am so used to getting lost (I've been known to "get lost going around the block") that I don't think the sort of adventure you are writing about would scare me too badly, except for the fact that I'd worry about the car breaking down. Something tells me that there will be a next time!
