A peaceful Independence Day to you all

A quiet one for us eating the best melons ever. People from church grew them and even cut the rinds off. They gave us a very large ice cream bucket full and that was a lot with the rinds cut off to give to their animals. I got a thank you card with a gift card in the mail to them today. Now I have to tell you a little story that I thought was so cute. My daughter and I toured a very nice Assisted Living home in San Antonio recently. We actually went into the apartments of people who live there. A little lady (why do I not think of myself as  a little old lady) told us about a bird sitting for a long time on her patio. She said she decided the weather was just too hot for the little bird so she went in and got a parasol (umbrella to me) and sat it over the bird. It still stayed so she decided on such a hot day the bird needed water. She went back in and got a bowl of water and sat it by the bird under the parasol. It still didn't fly away.

The melon sounded delcious. Was the little bird made of cement? Or had it passed away from the heat?

I love the story of the bird and the parasol - that's one fortunate bird!
I wish I had some Texas melons. They are the best. That's a perfect way to celebrate the 4th.

Me, too, on wondering about the bird....but love the story.

And like you, I never think of myself as a little old lady...till I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror.
