Old Wives Tales

I don't believe them but it is fun to repeat them and pretend I do. Sooo we ate blackeyed peas for lunch. Now we're sitting back waiting for good luck to befall us. I put stew in the crock pot at four thirty this morning. We awoke to the good smell this morning. John added his peas to the stew to make them taste better. They say what ever you do on New Years day you will do all year long. Nothing new here for me. Cook and do laundry and some straightening up. While on the subject of the New Year it is against the law to shoot fireworks in the city limits here. You wouldn't have known it by our yards brightly lit and the noise making the poor animals nervous. Our cats took cover in a shed by the garage. There was no way the police could enforce this law. Not sure why so many more this year unless they were celebrating San Antonio's birthday 300 besides the New Year. It was pretty, but too cold to go out to watch.

I never heard about the new years meal until after we were married. Sherry's family had always practiced it so we continue. As to what you do on New Year's day you do all year. I always suggested sex, it never worked cause Sherry said "that is really an old man's 'tail'." LOL

HAPPY NEW YEARS We hope it will be great out in Texas!

I have heard of black eyed peas and cabbage - my mom always used to make that.
Fireworks the same here.
Cold too.
You know what some idiot did here - make a fire pit in the front yard - I meant to call and see if that was even legal.
Happy New Year!
Love, sandie

They take serious chances here too. I'm always afraid a firework will land on my house and start a fire but we are lucky it isn't as dry as some years.

Fireworks went off here too. too dangerously close for comfort. you're right it frightens the animals.

Same here. Fireworks illegal, but entire neighborhood was lit up. That stew sounds great on such a wintry day.

Happy new year Paula.
