Did I Stick My Foot In My Mouth?

For everyone who hated my opinion in my last entry ( I think that was everyone) will be happy to know I'm having the devil commenting. I still stand by my opinion that a business has the right to run their business the way they want. With the amount I pay them they are not getting rich and with the price of things now days. Oh well! My name is Paula and I was addicted. Addicted to my computer and j-land so I spent the whole day with my computer OFF. I called my best friend from high school to wish her a happy birthday. I called another high school friend I only see about every ten years. Both ladies are in poor health and needed a call. John and I visited four elderly (more elderly then us) people who live in our new assisted living home. We visited our friend who turned 99 last month and has cancer. She is sharp as a tack and wants to make 100. I also visited Curves with the intent to join. They were closed at the time of day I was there but I plan to go back. I'm not saying all this to brag, I'm saying that I'm always quick to blame every murder and vile thing that happens on drug addiction and here I've let myself become addicted. I'm trying to get John and I from in front of the TV and computer at least part of the time and do something useful. I like reading about everyone's life and have met nice people here but I need to get back in touch with my real life too. I've spent entirely too much time trying to comment so as far as that is concerned I guess I did stick my foot in my mouth. Oh my goodness I promised myself I would go to bed at a reasonable time and here it is almost midnight and I haven't even worked on my Club Pogo badges.

LOL, working on the Pogo badges - I find I get obsessed with that and will keep playing even though I may be half asleep. It's sometimes hard to balance everything. I will set a time limit to be online and find it's an hour or two longer than I planned.

There are times when I think that I spend way to much time here in front of the computer and other times I can't get enough. I know a lot of people that go to curves, if you join you will have to let us know how you are doing.

I think the addictive part is the friendship and comadre we find here. With all the recent changes I know I'm on here more than I want to be. (Hugs)Indigo

You are so right about this addiction. For me it is a lifeline (since I don't get out much) but journal's are very time comsuming. Not your own journal, it's trying to read and comment on all the one's we love.

Hi Paula. I guess I missed the part where you "stuck your foot in you mouth". Joyce helped me with making comments and so far it has worked. I get on blogs when I take a break here :)..........alice

I applaud you, Paula. When I first got my computer, I wasn't working and spent 80% of my time online. Now I understand why my daughter felt left out growing up. I have an addictive behavior...not to drugs or alcohol, but to online games, blogging, making things like Blingees and other online things. The only salvation I have is that I don't get a constant wifi signal. I may be without wifi/internet for a week or 2 at a time. Helps keep me "unaddicted".
As far as the AOL thing about having the right to do what they want........the only thing that truly angered me about it is the time frame they gave us all to "save" our journals. Numerous people have more than 1 journal and it is difficult to save all within the limited 30 day time frame they gave us. 3 months might not have even been enough.

Be Blessed, and come visit my journal when you can.

I think I have it all figured out - but I feel much less stressed about commenting without all those alerts popping up in my mailbox.
Hope you get things figured out Paula.
Let me know if I can help :-)

I know what you mean...I disappear every once and a while too. I am with you older folks need attention too. I have been helping Mrs H at the nursing home and it makes me sad to see so many people just sitting around all alone all day. They need attention too. I think I am going to get off this thing and call an old friend! rose

Well I dont know what your opinion was, but I am reading from the top to the bottom. Whether anyone agreed on whatever it was or not, doesnt matter. Sounds to me like getting up and out is a good thing. Winter will be here soon enough and then we will all be stuck in the house for sure. Hugs, Kelly
