WOW

You know what they say about Texas, everything is bigger and better. I didn't say that, they say that. My picture is sooo big I probably won't ever get a comment again. Its my cacti and I can leave it if I wanna. I started out to post a little recycle tag and nominate Kelli from Thoughts Of A Sober White Women as the top recycler. As usual I started out to do one thing and ended up doing something else and overdoing it. Oh well I have fun. I whole heartedly agree with Kelli recycling is very important and if she could see the room behind the garage here she would know I save boxes to use a second time. Would you believe at one time I picked up cans off the side of the street in my neighborhood in San Antonio? Knowing me you would believe it wouldn't you? My oldest daughter belonged to a teen organization at Joske's Of Texas an exclusive department store, no longer in business. One of the rules to continue she had to collect a certain amount of aluminum cans every month for charity. As a high school band member she had to spend so many hours at the band hall plus school work etc. there was not enough time so I took on the task of collecting the aluminum cans. Not only was it good exercise it was helping my daughter and helping charity after they sold the cans collected by the whole organization. Recently I started saving my plastic for the recycling truck. I never realized how many products we use comes in plastic. I even threw my top-up card for my phone in there this morning. We can fill one of the square containers almost every week, just the two of us. I can imagine what a family can do. Thank you Kelli for reminding me to work harder to pay attention to what I am discarding into the land fill. Our children and grandchildren's future depend on our decision today.

It needs to be downloaded at the size of 640 X 480. Have you got your camera settings set high at 1200 and more? I have photobucket download mine at 640x480. I like large photos. We have some dumpsters by the grocery store for plastic, cardboard, glass, and newspaper. I recycle all of it. Does not take too much effort to do it. Hope you have a great Friday and great weekend. That is awesome you do all that recycling. I am terrible about stuff like that but I do really well with giving away re-useable clothing and housewares. Hugs and have a happy Friday!

I love the picture of your cacti! I try to make sure all the plastic goes in the recycling bin here at home, too, and I do save and sell my aluminum cans. The recycling place is not very far from our favorite pet shop, so once I have a few lawn and garden bags full, we take them to the recycling place and then stop at the pet shop on the way back, so I'm not making a special trip.

The cacti are so pretty. I try not to buy things in cans or plastic containers.Fresh fruit/veggies or frozen ones. I use the plastic grocery bags for my trash eliminating buying them. I usually have one large trash bag full in a month. I cancelled my trash service, too! :).........

I love the picture of the cactus. This dumb traveler decided once to let Sherry take my picture hugging one. I picked one I thought I could hug without touching, huh uh! Them little cactus thingys don't want o come out easily.
I can see you picking up cans. that one is easy to picture.
Funny thing, I reminded Sherry how we used to have a small place behind our houses where we burned what little garbage we had. Today with all the throw away stuff, two people have more trash in a day than a family of four used to have in a week. And you are right we do have to do something.

Awesome picture of the cactus. Some things just need to be bigger to be appreciated. I love Kelli, she's awesome with her Friday recycling post. (Hugs)Indigo

Thanks for the reminder Ms. Paula, I am guilty of not recycling like I should. Maybe I'll try paper to start because I do go through it! *M*

I love your picture! We recycle too but our community (haha - not) has no recycling program nor does my trash hauler. Isn't that something in todays age of going green? Well it doesn't shock me since the people in my area still throw their furniture into our woods from the back of their trucks. I don't believe they know the meaning of recycle. Good for you for doing your part.
