This & That

Did you hear they caught two of the ten "Most Wanted" yesterday in San Antonio? They were sleeping in a stolen van when caught. They did their evil deeds in Virginia and came to Texas on the run. They attacked his ex-girlfriend and her parents. John and I were just discussing why would this young woman not realize he might do the same to her. On a lighter note but crooked to me never the less. Me and my people watching! After a trip to San Antonio we were eating at Whataburger. I noticed a man come in the door with a Santa hat on. Tall, slim nice looking senior citizen with silver hair and mustache. He had a Whataburger cup in his hand. How can you miss them? Orange and white stripe. I watched him go over to the drinks and get water. Nothing wrong with that. Then he downed several pills. Nothing wrong with that, thats what senior citizens do. Then he puts his cup under soda and fills it. Goes to the rest room, comes out and walks across the parking lot never once going to the counter or looking at the workers and gets into a very large, nice suv type vehicle and drives off. After I explain to John what he did John says well maybe he is traveling and earlier he ate at a Whataburger. So would that be stealing? You mean like that cup is from a week ago and he takes it with him to get free drinks all over the country? What do you think? Am I just a goody two shoes?

I would have done the same a few years ago but I worry about everything now lol. Who wants to go to jail over a Pepsi, you know?

We don't have Whataburgers in Virginia.. at least not in my area. *M*

Maybe he owns the franchise and comes in whenever he wants for free food and drinks?
I love your people watching, you see some interesting things. Have a great day, Sheila

I would have to be terribly thirsty to even think of something like that and sure wouldn't be carrying a used cup around with me.lol Oh well, being a santa makes him "special" :)

Maybe it was a drug hand-off. We saw something similar at a Dairy Queen in Denton. Someone else would have gone to the men're room before or after.
That would be sad.
I bet he at there with his wife, they carried their drinks to the car, she told him he forgot to take his medicine, so he went back for something to drink.

I just don't want to. lol Looks like you and John are still have a good time being out and about. Hmmm If I did that I would feel like I was stealing, but maybe he don't. lol His mamma must have not taught him well. lol Have a wonderful week. Janie

Paula I think the guy was just cheap even if he did drive a nice vehicle. Take care, Jean

Hi Paula,
We lived in San Antonio, out near 1604 and Potranco. My brother still lives out there.
Maybe if I get out there to visit him we can meet up for coffee or a soda, but we'll pay for ours...ha. Have a great day, Sheila

I would never have enough guts to walk into a restaurant with an old cup and get refills anytime!

Enjoy your day,.

Glad they caught some criminals, especially the high profile ones.
Yes it is stealing. I assume everyone justifies what they do, but the rules for refills is EACH VISIT.
I am always grateful for any senior citizen discount I receive. I seldom if ever ask for it. Nothing wrong with it, that is just me. I see young folk who could use the discount much more than I. A very wealthy friend of ours has at times brought his yesterdays(?) cup in to fast food for his 'FREE' coffee. He B gone now, but I have thought of it often. How could he? These folk operate on a small % profit.

PS to my last. Cafe money is made on drinks now, as much or more than food.

I would stump my toe and be sprawled on the floor if I tried to do that. Yes that is wrong. How cheap. Some people thinks the world owes them a living. I am not surprised at anything in todays world. I would have wanted to wait until he got out the door and started for his Van and yelled Sir, Sir, can I pay for you drink. (I B bad).

The guy is cheap and in my eyes that's stealing no matter how you cut it. (Hugs)Indigo

In my opinion that guy is tacky. Good for San Antonio for catching one of the Wanted Men!!!
I guess you don't mess with Texas. ;)

You are just an honest woman. Little thefts probably indicate that the rich might do a lot of damage because they have the opportunity! Look at Medoff who is now accused of ripping off more money in a Ponzi scheme than anyone in history--billions! I think that little theft probably indicates a crook. Gerry

Technically yes, that is stealing. However I have done stuff like that before so I cant judge. lol

I'm so jealous right now because I was born and raised in Texas and I love Whataburger. My kids and I eat one as soon as we hit the border when we travel there.
But to answer your question, unless he is eating there and just refilling his cup to leave and take with him. Then he is stealing. You can't go place to place just filling up your cup where ever you go.
Take care, Chrissie

Never been to Whataburger but Mr. Senior should be beaten with his own cheap cane.

Hi! I'm here from "Thoughts of a sober white woman" ... congratulations on receiving her honesty award.

I love your blog ... so many interesting things here. I, too, love to watch people and imagine their story. I have a feeling that this guy was just cheap ... and, personally, I think it's stealing. It would be interesting to know the truth ... I'm probably totally off-base.

When I read this post, it made me think of one of my bloggy friends who overheard a woman (who was driving a Lexus)ask for food from a food bank. If you'd like to read her article, you can find it here:

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, pictures and a bit of your life!

Hi again Paula, yes I know where Potranco and Talley are. We drove down that way a few times. When we lived there, there was a diamond shamrock and Bill Millers b-b-q on the corner of 1604 and Potranco, now there is all kinds of stuff there. We lived there from 1998 until 2002. My husband graduated from Samuel Clemens in Schertz (his Dad was in the Air Force). Take care, Sheila

Maybe he is one of those people that just dares anyone to say a thing to him. Maybe he did eat there earlier. Who knows really. I wouldnt be able to do anything like that in good concience.

we still have our glass cup from whataburger from 1987---they say "nickle" on them and that was all you paid after buying the cup. we don't use them any more--but when you ask for senior coffee at whataburger---it is free down here. maybe that man was used to free beverage. we ate there this am for breakfast--had bisquits and sausage gravey--really good too! barb

I have not heard the term ruptured duck, but I like it, it is country and it conjures up a picture. I have found out though I have many country sayings I did not know I had until I met Doc. He even objects to 'hold your horses.' I thought everyone said that. But he insists he never said it in his life. Gerry

not sure about WHATABURGER, but some fast food chains here in georgia allow senior citizens to get refills on drinks for free any time they use one of the restaurants own cups. some places offer free drinks to seniors ANYTIME, even without one of their own cups. i have done this before, but usually only if i ordered through the drive-thru, then parked in the restaurant parking lot and ate, then went in for a refill. but i usually ask first.

maybe this will help ease your mind some, lol.

blessings,

regina
