Apology

I'm sorry I posted the picture in the last entry. I know most do not understand the damage wild hogs do to crops and land which provides meat and vegetables for people. People in this county have eaten wild hog until they are tired of it but some still do eat it. I was told just this morning the state is considering hunting wild hogs from helicopters but then there will be a danger of cattle being shot by accident. Yes it is a sad picture but you need to consider both sides of the coin. Do you kill black widow spiders or brown recluse to keep from being bitten or do you just let them live? I kill 'em as fast as I can. You should ride over land where the grass has grown over deep wild hog rootings and fall into one of those holes. Jars your teeth and whole body, can damage your truck and does damage your land but you must tend your cattle so people have steak to eat on THEIR special occasions. It is the same principal as rain. People in the country know the value of rain, people who don't make their living on ranches or farms DO NOT want it to rain on their parade. Sorry but everything in the cattle industry is not a bed of roses.

No worries Paula, you are right how do you decide what gets to live? You have to make a living and if these animals are a danger to your livestock then they have to be handled.

Guess I missed something, cause I don't see a picture in a previous post so not sure what your apology is for. Anyway, I don't think there's a whole lot of people out there who don't eat meat whether it's beef, chicken or even wild hog.

don't worry about it . i understand, having lived in rural arkansas as a child, then rural texas most of my life...i totally understand. but there are needy people...i'm talking those that have a house full of kids & no income, they could use that meat. they'd be thankful for it. hope the ones shooting the hogs realize that, & see that some of it goes to that purpose.

Not only do I stump my foot on spiders and lots of other bugs, but we kill mice and rats also. I see nothing wrong in killing wild hogs.

Enjoy your evening.

Don't worry about me being fearsomely pious, I went back to being a vegetarian in April, but I still don't think I should pulpit thump about Anything. Plenty of people who won't touch meat wear leather, some eat fish & say that is "different," and so on. Also you have to look at the history & context of something like that. It isn't so easily Right or Wrong. Lots of other things need to be weighed.

Made me mad! That is I got mad the first time I walked over where the wild hogs had rooted here in florida. Not knowing what had done it, I asked a Ranger why they were plowing up the trail area. He said hogs had done the damage. I was amazed I never knew a hog could do so much damage with it's snout.
It is like the road kill, not pretty, but a fact of life.
YOur Blog, your great stories, keep 'em coming!

You posted about life and life has death. Those wild hogs are not only destructive they are dangerous. I am sorry that you deleted that post. I did see it in my reader.

PAULA YOU ARE SO RIGHT. CATTLE RAISING CERTAINLY HAS IT'S PROBLEMS.

A VERY UNIQUE TOWN HERE, CANON CITY COLORADO.
WITHIN CITY LIMITS ARE HUGE HAY FIELDS AND ADJOINING CATTLE HERDS BEING RAISED. THE 'GRANDFATHER CLAUS ALLOWS FAMILIES TO PURSUE THAT WHICH GRANDPA DID.

CRITICAL NOW, FOOD FOR CATTLE. HAY ALL USED UP AND TURNING CATTLE IN TO THE HAYFIELDS TO SCROUNGE FOR GRASS ROOTS. (NEVER HEARD OF IT ? ).
ANY AMOUNT OF SNOW OR RAIN IS WELCOME AND SOFTENS THE GROUND TO ALLOW PULLING OUT THE ROOTS, ALLOWING PERHAPS NOT A FULL BELLY, AN AWFUL PROBLEM FOR CATTLE FARMERS THINKING OF HAVING TO 'SELL OFF'.
SO MANY ROOTS HAVE BEEN PULLED THE HAYFIELDS MUST BE RE-SEEDED. NOT AS EXPENSIVE THOUGH AS THE EXTREMELY HIGH PRICE OF HAY.

Paula, no apologies were necessary. I missed whatever the picture was...but I know all too well, its just the way it is in the country. Things have to be maintained, one way or the other. This is your space here, and what you post is the truth, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Thats what I love about you. You are always true and straight up. Hugs, Kelly
