Stormy Weather

Neither wind nor rain or dark of night will keep domino players from their game. It was threatening serious bad weather here in our county this afternoon but John went on to the next town to his weekly domino game. He did ask me if I was going to be afraid. Ha! Well the news media did convince me when they cancelled all their regularly scheduled programs to monitor the weather for several hours in south texas and mostly in our county. I gathered up my cell phone, battery operated radio, and a heavy quilt and put them into the bath tub. I sat and waited. Several people from different towns called the tv station I was listening to while I went from window to window and back to the chair. I was kind of amazed how the news lady would try to get the caller to say how bad the weather was and everyone would say well it rained quite a bit. They kept mentioning possible golf ball size hail, possible tornados, and wind 80 miles an hour with possible gust up to 100 miles an hour. Thank goodness I never had to get in that bath tub and we didn't get anything except rain. Some towns did get some wind and hail but it wasn't too bad. Didn't faze the domino players they played all afternoon.

I remember when we lived in Derby, KS (near Wichita)when a tornado was in the area we would send the girls to the basement and stand at the door and/or outside to watch. Thrill seekers I guess...ha. Have a great Friday, Sheila

Oh Paula... I can just see you sitting in your bathtub! lol It would not do me any good to sit in the bathtub because my is plastic or whatever it is. hahaha! Reminds me of Terry Ann crying to go sit in the neighbors tub with them when she was about 13. I told her we were going to stay right where we were. lol We are in tornado alley in Kansas! You have heard of Dorthy and Toto... right? Joking here but those tornados are not a joking matter! They seem to be getting worse. Stay safe and blessings, Janie

I was five or six, living in Beesville TX at the time a hurricane came through and several tornados. It left a trail of wreckage but fortunately we were safe. I am glad you weathered a probable storm and the domino game could go on.

Thanks for coming by my blog, and hope to see you again! Blessings!

Not a good time for a bubble bath. I was told that the winds got up to 65mph night before last here in our part of Texas. The lights went off a couple of times and came back on each time. I had my flashlight in hand!!!

Lot's of people don't take the warnings seriously and end up hurt or worse. I'm glad you have the good sense God gave you Paula. As for John.......

God bless the dedicated Domino Players. LOL. I too smile when you hear a radio or TV person trying to boost the excitement (or fear) of the weather. I finally heard a TV personality mention the excitedment of a 'Good Catastrophy'. Reporting is not good enough.
Oh well glad youdid not have to use the bathtub for anything but baths this week.
Weather like that is nothing to joke about that is for sure. YOu never know what CAN happen. BUT glad you and the domino players are safe.
