Blowing The Soot Out and I'm Not As Nice As I Once Was

My brother always told me I need to drive on the highway once in a while and blow the soot out of my truck. I did just that today. John wanted to go to the pig trough (Golden Corral) again. Can't you just imagine the stories the people who work there could tell. We were driving along and a big puff of wind almost took the steering wheel out of my hand. We could hear it swish by and the wind wasn't even blowing hard. Weird! First we went in our favorite thrift store forgetting this wasn't senior citizen day where we get 25 % off but of course I found a couple of things I just couldn't do without. They have a nice place where men can wait comfortably while their women spend. John was patiently waiting while I was in line. They only had one checker so I was there for a while. I noticed a large tall man come in beside me in line from another direction. He had one item in his hand with no cart. I had two items in a cart. I could see he was trying to crowd me out so I stood my ground. Took my purchases from the cart and put them on the counter right behind the lady who had been in front of me the whole time I was in line. As I sat the items on the counter the man said are you trying to cut in front of me? If he had ask if he could go ahead and made any excuse as to why he was in a hurry I would have stepped back. I said I have been in line 15 minutes and you just stepped up here. 15 minutes may be stretching it a little but its the principle of the thing. He said to me you're lucky I'm in a good mood. I paid and walked to where John was sitting. He said are you ready to go? I said lets sit here a while and explained. We would have been fair game on that parking lot as it was not a busy time of day. There are double doors even with where John was sitting and I saw the man looking in those doors as he and his companion walked to their car. This may be a habit of his with his large frame and talking to smaller senior citizens. I was livid by the time we walked across to Golden Corral but a young man made up for it. He stepped back to let us go ahead of him and opened the door for us. When we were inside I offered to let him go ahead of us but he said no I'm just here to get an application. I hope he gets a job.

My husband says the same thing. At least once a week he likes to take the cars out on the highway and put the metal to the pedal! LOL

Gary is actually getting better at waiting on me at the Goodwill store. lol I like to go without him!! lol Too funny, the 25% off. I have a card I bought at Goodwill and get 10% off all the time. I had been standing in line at Goodwill the other day waiting patiently!! They opened another register & the lady that had just stepped up behind me went to it. I did too. I was waiting longer than her... I just stepped up there and threw 2 items on the counter and said.. I am in a hurry too, sorry. She knew I was right. That is the way it should have been. Normally I would just let her go first but I was getting tired of waiting. lol Must have been in the weather... you think?? hehe Hope you guys have a good week. Janie

I have never seen such rude behavior to my Unique thrift store, but the dear sweet clerk has been working for them for years and she has got us all well trained. She is the most beautiful golden color I have ever seen, a beautiful woman and as humble and nice as could be, so she is part of the reason people love to go to that store. Doc is not trainable, so he is not allowed to go to the thrift store with me lest he might say one impatient word and spoil my cheerer upper visit!

People who try to cut in line are just rude people. That is showing disrespect to other people. Someone who is always trying to cause problems. Helen

You should have smacked him and said my husband is Ranger, you push one more time and you are DEAD meat! There isn't much difference in the spelling of Rancher and Ranger, right?
You did good, Pushy people irriatate me no end.
I don't know whether blowing the soot out (or carbon out, as we used to say) is necessary now. I used that excuse in Cuba where the max speedlimit was 30 mph.
The boys always liked that once a week ride up to a hundred and back down on a one mile stretch of isolated road. ha!

I am not that nice either! I think you did the right thing by waiting in the store.
Amber needs to get out of California because there are no jobs here. We have the highest unemployment rate in the country right now. At least California is a head in something!

Hi Paula,

Good for you I am glad you stood up for yourself, people can be so rude. I hope you got some nice purchases too. The nicest of the man applying for the job hopefully made you feel better :)

I don't blame you one bit. Nobody likes to be cut in front of. Like you, I don't mind letting someone go ahead at times but some are just rude. Have a great day, Sheila

Boy he should be glad I was not there because his threat would of gotten an "OR WHAT" about 10 octives louder. I have no patience for bullies, even big ones. I know exactly how to drop him a few inches too. Now who is lucky? LOL Bless you and I'm glad you held your footing!

How rude! Where's the respect? I'm glad you stood your ground and it was probably a good idea to wait inside. There's just no telling what some people will do these days.

I'm sure you did the wise thing to wait and let that guy leave before you. He had some nerve speaking to you that way!
