Cows Can Be Fickle

An out of season cow I ran across from Sugar. Isn't she all decked out? The cows couldn't give us the time of day early this morning. The green grass is growing so they don't need to depend on us for their food. However Shelly Marie stopped grazing to look up and listen to us while still chewing with her mouth full of grass. Mama Twiggy had joined part of the herd on the back forty. She may end up being a social butterfly yet. Our mission this morning was to find two new calves to see if they are doing okay and determine their sex. Oh those mamas had other ideas. They had hid them well and they love to play mind games with us. They will hid them in the tall grass and then graze the complete opposite direction or look the opposite direction to try to throw us off. Well they won today we didn't find them. John says they are okay though or the cows would be bellowing. They will bring them out for all to see in a few days.

This gave me a smile thinking of the cows being so protective of their offspring. (Hugs)Indigo

Sexing calves. Hmm, how close do you have to get for that?
And yes, the graphic is out of season, but very cool....I don't think I saw anyone with that one when it was In season. ~Mary

That cow needs some covers on her udders LOL. I hope you find those calves soon. Glad that you are getting enough rain to make that grass grow. Helen

I have learned a lot about cows. I think that
is funny that they keep the Babies hid until
show time. If you have one that is a "Social
Butterfly" she will have a good time. I get
accused of that sometime.
