Friendship

A pretty friendship tag from Joyce reminded me of just how important friendships are. John always says when I make a friend I make them for life. Why wouldn't they be?. I guess friendship means different things to different people. Friends don't have to be my age. I have some much younger and some much older. Age is just a word or a number. I have one friend who calls me her "sis" since she doesn't have any sisters. Actually her mother was my friend even though she was ten years older then me. Since she died her daughter has become my friend and my "sis". I had one friend who was 20 years older then me. She died recently but we did a lot of fun things together. Dancing, water exercise, walking, etc. I have remained friends with people from high school, people from my hometown, people that rented from me. I think to have friends you have to make an effort to pick up the phone or drop a note. Now days there are online friends who mean as much as someone you have known all your life. You care when they are down or ill. You worry when they don't post for a while. Thank you Joyce for posting your pretty friendship tag. You made me think of all my past and present friendships and the new ones here online.

Sherry has many friends. She made friends for life partly because she was in school with some of them from the first grade. Shirl and I have also made friends, but most are distant, since we moved in our growing years.
I have made very few friends, but the ones I have are really friends and I would miss any of them.
I just counted and I have lived in/on 31 towns/ships/motorhomes. I wish I could say I have a real friend from each place, but I don't. But the ones I do have are good friends.
Good entry on friends.
Jack

Glad I could help. It always amazed me that my mother maintained friendships from her childhood. This was especially noted after she died and I had a book full of people to call all over the world (from being in the military for 30 yrs.). I have lost track of so many over the years. Now see, you are the one that made me think...

I have also had older and younger friends. :) And yes, friends on line seem like I have known them forever. :) Thank you for the reminder of our friends. Thank you for your friendship Paula. :) Hugs, Janie

Hi Paula. Very good post. I was a military brat growing up and moved quite often in my early years, and for some reasons did not keep a connection with some of my childhood friends. It was not until high school, and then the one friend became closer to my twin, lol. I think sometimes people draw close and move apart. Now, if I am honest - I have a couple truly best friends and even though they moved out of state we have remaind close over the years via the phone or emails. My other friends? Well those would be my family...my sisters and brother and their children and my parents. Great post.

I must tell you that I was thinking of you yesterday. I actually sat down and played the wii. There is a cow racing game on it! For the record, I am not very good at cow racing! LOL

Hi Paula,

What a very nice post, it is so true you can have friends all ages. It also takes work to keep them just like you said.

I have friends from all ages and walks of life. I agree freindship is meant to last a lifetime. Even if they don't - to me they are still not forgotten. (Hugs)Indigo
