I've Been Craving Pickled Beets

No! Not what you think, I'm too old. If I was though I wouldn't have to boil diapers, mix formula, or sterilize bottles. I might have to be careful not to throw the baby out with the bath water. Kelli the queen of recycling would be proud of me. I buy a jar of good pickled beets. After I eat them I buy a can of cheap plain beets, take the beets out and put them into the pickled beet juice. Drink the plain beet juice, rinse the can but not too much (wasteing water you know?) and throw the can into the recycle bin. Then I do it all over again. I wonder exactly how long this craving is going to last and what does it mean?

When I buy beets in a can, I always put them in a container and add onions, sliced cucumbers, salt, pepper and vinegar. Its a great change.

BTW, if that means I'm pregnant, It'll be medical history.

It means a new season is here and your body is needing something different -- and apparently whatever it is you need is in the pickled beets! I like pickled beets. The first year we had a garden here I grew some and pickled them, and they were wonderful!

I am glad you told me about this, as I get the most flavorful fresh beets to the Farmer's Market and I could cook them and put them in that good pickled beet juice! I have put boiled eggs in dill pickle juice but not this. Gerry

I think it means you like pickled beets, now that is just a guess. LOL You are just one cool dudette. (I do that with V8 juice. buy the cheaper can and put it in the jar. As a matter of fact it is aobut time.
BTW you crave a good thing!

PS: you are so right about the washing diapers, formula, etc. I get my mind boggled thinking at the amount of disposable diapers in the dump!

I have pickled beets in the fridge but never connected the thought to pregnacy. I do pretty much the same thing. Buy the cheap ones and put them in a plastic or glass container with lid and just add apple cider vinegar to taste. Sometimes I'll add onions. Have a great cowgirl day :)

Hi
I’m finding this a decade later lol. It’s because today I’m the one craving pickled beets so I searched “why am I craving pickled beets” in DuckDuckGo and your blog was hit #3 or so.
Ate a bunch yesterday with a friend during lunch and just ate a whole can in one sitting by myself as course 1 for breakfast/lunch, partly cuz the can #2 of the 2 I bought recently was on the stovetop staring at me.

p.s. I can’t be pregnant if I don’t do what makes pregnancy happen. 🙂

Adult Male here. I NEED pickled beets. If my fridge is empty of them it is essentially entirely empty. I attribute my need to being a moderately heavy drinker. They cleanse the gut, liver, and heart. Plus, drinking pickled beet juice (feels like) a power infusion of electrolytes. And, they are inexpensive! 29 cents a can! I just dump that into my glass beet jar and never let it run dry.
