Jinxed

I've wasted way too much time trying to post a picture of another piece of farm machinery and then a picture of tasty looking strawberries. Oh well I'll just say we have had to plan another route to our little historical church tomorrow morning. Every Sunday we go through the strawberry capital of Texas. This week-end the yearly strawberry festival is being held there. We have a lot of ugly little towns here in south texas and the strawberry capital is one of them but it comes to life on the week-end of strawberry festival. Thousands of people come from san antonio and all the surrounding towns to eat strawberry shortcake, listen to country music, and look at all the booths with everything you can imagine to buy. When we go through this town and then need to turn left across traffic it would be next to impossible unless they have someone in that intersection directing traffic which is doubtful. The traffic will be bumper to bumper for miles. The bad weather recently had growers worried but I heard they got most of the strawberries picked. There have been years when the strawberries didn't make well for some reason or other and they would have to ship the strawberries in from another state as you know the show must go on.

I don't know but I acquainted it to The Wizard of Oz. Everything is black and white and then color abounds, lol...at least red! Sounds like a wonderful event, sorry you are inconvenienced by it. Living in a small town, I find myself losing track of the parades which means they shut down the only road going in and out, so I can relate. The last one was a bed race. It is to raise money for local community stuff.

PAULA, SO MANY VARIETIES OF STRAWBERRIES.
THE SUPER DELICIOUS, THE WILD ONES OF EASTERN OKLAHOMA. SOUTH SLOPING HILLSIDES COVERED WITH SMALL FLINTROCKS, BERRY VINES GROWING UP THROUGH THE ROCKS. LAST DAYS OF APRIL THE PLANTS BLOOM AND AS BERRIES DEVELOP THE SUNSHINE REFLECTS FROM THE FLINTROCKS AND BERRIES TURN RED AND RIPEN.
SMALL SASSAFRASS TREES HERE AND THERE AFFORD SOME SHADE OVER THE BERRIES. SMALL BERRIES, NEVER LARGER THAN A CONCORD GRAPE. SOFT SWEET STRAWBERRIES. THESE CONDITIONS MAY BE FOUND ALSO IN ARKANSAS AND MISSOURI IN THE OZARK MOUNTAINS AREA.
I HAVE ENJOYED THE PLEASURE OF LIVING IN ALL THREE STATES IN WHICH CULTIVATED STRAWBEYRRY FIELDS ARE COMMON, STILLWELL OKLAHOMA CLAIMING TO BE STRAWBERRY CAPITAL OF THE WORLD.
WE OKIES SORT OF CHUCKLE TO OURSELVES WHEN SEEING ON DISPLAY IN STORES THE BIG ROUGH LOOKING STRAWBERRIES THE SIZE OF GOLF BALLS, LIGHT COLORED SEEDS PROTRUDING AND IF BRAVE ENOUGH TO BUY AND TAKE HOME THOSE MONSTER BERRIES, NOT A SPECIAL TREAT THOUGH PERHAPS IS BETTER THAN NOTHING.

Love strawberries, with whip cream, or dipped
in chocolate, pies and any they can be prepared. Plus they are very good for you.
I would love to be at the festival.
