My First Car

I was just reading an article where people were telling about their first car. What model and year was your first car? Mine was a 1954 Ford Fairlane, baby blue in color. I was already married and had my first child. I didn't drive or have a car as a teen because my daddy didn't think women should drive. Thank goodness Mel my deceased husband felt differently. He always made sure I had transportation. This ford fairlane was completely wrecked but a late model car at the time when we bought it. Mel did all the body work and painted it that baby blue. It was a good car but we finally decided to buy a new car and sell that one. We ran an ad and a man came to look at it for his wife while Mel was at work. He looked it over and liked it and told me so. He studied it and pondered and finally ask if I was sure it was a 1954. I told him I'll show you the title. He bought it and when Mel came home I told him how the man had questioned me about the year. He laughed and told me he had not been able to find a '54 back end and had to put a '52 on it. Looked okay to me the years I drove it and I bet it looked okay to that man's wife. Tell me about your first car.

Great story. That deal Mel pulled has caused a few arguments among boys! That is a '54 look at the grill, No it is a '52 look at the trunk. I Had the same argument with a buddy because some one had put a '49 trunk on a '50 Ford. We still talk aobut that argument.
My first car was a beauty, a maroon '48 Chevy Convertable. But I wrecked it! turned it over, no one got hurt. I was dating Sherry at the time and had just kissed her good night a little while before.
BTW. I did e-mail the entry to the White house, they have changed their e-mail address but I found their web site.(for all it is worth)

ps: I beat Sherry and everyone here this time!

My first car was a Chevy Monza, which I bought in 83'. I wrecked it within 3 months and totalled it. I was so sad, but at least no one was hurt.

Mine was a '47 Pontiac convertible that my uncle bought for me when I was a junior in high school. It was a light yellow. I have a picture of it so maybe I'll get around to posting a picture of it some day :)

Mine was a '79 Ford Mustang. Chamois was the color, kind of a creamy peachy color with a pin stripe. It had vinyl seats so I covered the front ones with sheep skin seat covers. Hope you had a nice Mother's Day, Sheila

Hi Paula,

My first car was a 1986 Chevy Monte Carlo. How I loved and babied that vehicle. It was silver with dark maroon interior. My dad co-signed for me and I paid the note all by myself. I would wash and wax that car every weekend and even armor all the wheels and interior.
I had one car payment left 4 years later and a speeding pizza delivery man slammed into the back of me while I was stopped waiting to make a turn. He totaled my car, and I spent my 21st birthday in a neck brace and it was the start of all my back problems...sigh I still have the hood ornament in my jewelry box.

My first car was 79 buick. I think it was suppose to be blue, but it had more primer on it then anything. I loved that car! It was my big ol steal tank.

What a great entry... I love hearing about first cars...!! I inherited my mother's mini station wagon... for a graduation gift... I don't remember the year but it was a burgundy car and it got me all the way to St Louis Missouri and beyond for college. I was able to get a lot of clothes in that car and I am such a clothes horse. I think it was a Chrysler and it broke down a few times and I swore I'd never get another one and never have gotten another one. My favorite other early car I drove was a beautiful blue little sporty car... I think it was a skybird or something by pontiac. Dang I loved that car. Black leather interior... light powdery sky blue... and it was so sporty and I could really get around in that car. I'd drive it again if I could find another one. I drove it all the way from Virginia to Tennessee and never got tired because it was so much fun to drive. Had a nice little radio too. Again I don't remember the year... probably something from the 70's.
