Just a country girl kicking around the dirt roads taking pictures of trees, gates, animals. cactus, and anything else that strikes my un-fancy mind. You are welcome to take a look and come back if you like.

Rain Blessed Rain
we awoke early this morning to the sound of thunder and lightening and best of all to a beautiful rain. We jumped out of bed and stood in the door to watch the rain. We said a few thankful comments and went back to bed. Later John was going to the ranch to see if it rained and how much out there. I talked him in to waiting until I finished my doctor appointment so I could go too. Rain is news, big news, important news in our dry parched county. When we got out there we could see it had rained but not like it had here in town. We always seem to get more then the ranch but we're not complaining. As we started up the tank dam we spotted Shelly Marie and her baby. It was plain as day her baby was a little boy (bull) but she still didn't want us too near it. She started walking away toward the brush. That means she is a good mother. We went on to check the cattle and when coming back over the dam if we could see Shelly John was going to go to the grain tank to get some special food for her since she was alone, has a new baby, and is getting old. Being alone she could eat the special food without the other cows fighting her for it and it could give her strength. She was long gone so she missed her special treat. All the other cows seemed to be doing okay. The roadrunners were out doing what roadrunners do best running around. I guess they were enjoying the fresh air after the rain. I know I did.

Glad you got some rain, hope you get some more. Sheila
sure glad it did rain you needed it
Well that is great, RAIN. We got rain and hail today, as usual. But I know you all need it aplenty down there.
So it's a bull, shucks! YOu prefer cows right?
I think calves are so pretty though, male or female. Sorry Shelly missed the good stuff. Oh, well.
Take care Cowgirl,
Sherry & Jack

We good use a good rain here. We do not get thunder storms here and I really miss them.
Kelli
I keep forgetting to tell you how much I love your header picture, gorgeous!
Too bad Shelly Marie missed her treat. I hate when that happens with my girls too. Glad to hear you had rain - I know how badly it is needed.
PAULA, I REMEMBER SO WELL AS A TEENAGER DURING THE 1930s, DEPRESSION, DROUTH, DUST STORMS AND HORDES OF GRASSHOPPERS.
OLDER TREES DIED FROM LACK OF MOISTURE. THIS WENT ON FOR APPROXIMATELY FIVE YEARS, MY HOME IN EASTERN OKLAHOMA SEEMED TO BE ONE OF THE WORST PARTS OF THE DROUTH AREA.
FORTUNATELY DURING SPRING THERE WERE ENOUGH SPRINKLES TO RAISE A GARDEN AND TOMATO PLANTS WERE SURPRISINGLY TOUGH TO STAY ALIVE FOR ANOTHER SPRINKLE.
MANY WELLS WENT DRY, NEIGHBORS SOLD OFF LIVESTOCK EXCEPT FOR A MILK COW AND WOULD HAUL WATER FROM WELLS THAT HAD WATER.
A NEIGHBOR, MR. CASEY HAD A SPRING THAT NEVER WENT DRY. A BEAUTIFUL AREA IN THE YARD WITH THE SPRING.
A TRUE CHILD OF GOD MR. CASEY ALLOWED TRAFFIC TO THE SPRING THAT SPOILED THE BEAUTY OF THE AREA. WELCOME TO GOD'S WATER SAID MR. CASEY, AS LONG AS THAT WATER KEEPS COMING WHICH IT DID INDEED.
BEST WISHES FOR YOU AND YOURS AND THE NEIGHBORHOOD. sam
I am so glad you got rain. I wish I could send you all the rain we have been getting. I do not think I ever saw a picture of a real road runner except on cartoons. I bet a bull is good to have to help make more babies.
Thank you so much the comment. I am so glad you got rain. Being from the farm as a child, I do understand that need. I see your comments on Jacks blog, and always find the interaction interesting. He is a something else isn't he? lol Lucy
Glad that you got that rain. Sounds like you had a good morning. Helen
I'm glad you finally got some rain.
Have a good rest of your week.
I am so glad to hear you got some much needed rain! I love when it rains and thunders at night when we are sleeping. For some reason I like the sound of it and being safe in my cozy warm bed. Much hugs to you all!
