Ranching Isn't Always Pretty Words

We didn't get to the ranch until late this afternoon. I had some tests this morning and John had the "don'ts". We had to turn the well off that was filling the stock tank. Those cows are drinking a lot of water and it is evaporating fast too. The well has been running for two days. After we rode around a little we went over to Juan's little mexican village to see if he has any relatives who need work. As many trailers as there are there we could not find one family home. They must have got paid today and are having a wingding somewhere. The landlord likes for John to keep the mesquite bushes out of the fields but he has realized he just can't keep up with it in this hot weather. Its an ongoing job as the cattle eat the mesquite beans and when they go through the cattle they replant. I know that sounds gross but that is the way it works. The facts of ranching are not always pretty words and phrases. That is the way they get scattered all over the land. We saw Mama Twiggy and she hasn't had her baby yet. Shelly Marie is getting braver with her's. Oh and on the way out we thought we were going to see a wreck. A nice little car passed us and started heading for the bar ditch on the oppisite side of the highway. He pulled up and stopped beside a road kill. We watched in the mirrors and he got out to look at the road kill which we couldn't make out what it was but it wasn't very large. Jumped back in his car and passed us again as we turned down the lane. Sorry about the tiny print. I tired to customise but it wouldn't move. I'll keep trying.
