We went to Poth, Texas just a hop, skip, and a jump east of us to buy mineral tubs for the cattle. It's such a nice drive over as they get more rain then we do which makes the grass greener. We see large ranches and some pretty houses. One house in particular I like is built like a large red barn. From the highway I can see it has a large screened in porch on one corner of the back. being from a long line of porch sitters I can appreciate the size and the screen to keep out mesquitoes, june bugs and any other bugs. One large ranch has a row of flag poles on either side of the gate. I've been told movie stars used to come here to buy cattle. We pass a large dairy that used to give tours in a little bus and had a restaurant for lunch. I never made it there on a day trip and now the tour and restaurant part have closed up. Guess it wasn't profitable. Poth must have had a rain as recently as last night as there were puddles on their parking lot. It is amazing how close that town is to us and how much more rain they get then we do. We took the tubs out and unloaded them. Two cows spotted them right away and was able to beat the others to them. After we finished with that we went the long way home to check out how bad the fire had actually been yesterday. It burned quite a bit of land. Bad at the time but the grass and weeds will come back greener eventually. The houses were safe but I'm sure the people who live there was sweating it out. From the looks of things the fire had started on what used to be John's place and burned to the road and the wind picked up the sparks and blew them across the road. Lots of fence post lost. On the way home I was able to check out a tiny cemetary I've been wanting to. It is near a road but was always grown up with sticky brush and I couldn't tell how many graves were there. Some nice soul or souls has cleaned out just around the graves from the road. We stopped and went to the fence so I could take a picture of the graves (gotta wait, old fashioned camera here). There were three but we couldn't read any dates and if I had climbed the fence I would have been trespassing. The names looked to be hispanic. Very interesting stuff.

We find unusual stones and overgrown cemetery's interesting. Especially Joe. I remember when I was ABOUT 8 YEARS WE HAD MOVED INTO A FARM ABOUT 7 MILES FROM lINCOLN and when we were on our way to school noticed an overgrown area in one corner of a field with big trees. One day we decided to investigate and there were 4 graves with markers of rock that someone had scratched first name and year they were born and died. Of course being kids we decided it was haunted, but that did not keep us away. I must say we did not bother them in any way, cause I think at that age something might reach out and grab us. Lol I wasn't sure where you lived and yes I think it would be around Dallas since they were living in Euless when my son first went down there to work for him. As he came up in the world they moved farther out of Euless. He had his own plumbing business. Thanks for clearing that up. I just know the times we went to Texas to visit my son who I never hear from any more we were lost from the time we got there. lol

I love road trips! I keep hearing everyone talking about rain, but we have not seen any in a very long time. I am shocked that we have not had any fires as of yet either. I can't wait to see your pictures!

Hey, sounds like things are jumping on the Ranch. Glad it wasn't your property on fire. Neat to know Shelly Marie can lip read, will come in handy in her old age (I know). We are beat, try ing to do some catch up and gonna enjoy the BED instead of the ground.

Now I have come to the end of the blog posts of yours I have not read. I saw the headline about this fire but could not get here until now. If I was a fireman I would be too late to put out the fire. I just hoped nothing got burned that was too valuable. It is surprising how many cigarettes thrown from cars start bush fires on the side of the roads here, and it is prohibited but people still do it. I suppose they think noone can catch them! Now lightning is an act of fate, so we forgive, but if a people does it, a bunch of detectives track them down, levy fines, and scoldings if they do not put them in jail. Even volunteer firemen have started some of the worst fires in our history. Gerry
