The Moon Didn't Lie

We did get a little rain last night and it hasn't seemed so hot today. We didn't do much though so at supper time we decided to go eat a salad and have some good iced tea at Bill Millers Barbeque. Who should we run into but Bill Miller? Not the owner of the restaurant but a man who has the same name and was our propane delivery man. He sat at our table with us and we discussed what else but rain? People in our area can discuss rain for hours.Usually lack of rain or it can be how many inches did ya git? Old Joe Blow on such and such road said he got so and so many inces. Bill Miller is a real nice guy and we enjoyed our visit but we're glad we don't have to patronize his business any longer. He delivered the propane for John and his daughter to burn pear. Cactus stickers burned off for the cows to eat. Its a hot and hard job and they aren't able to do that anymore. Bill Miller told us of a few who he still delivers propane to and are still doing that hot job. He told us the man who works cattle for John occasionaly on horseback has been burning for eight months. it doesn't usually last that long. This is a bad drought. When we left the restaurant I suggested driving up the highway to see where the fire was I heard about on the news yesterday. I'll use any excuse to drive in the country. I heard it burned a mobile home and a shed but no one was hurt. We went seven miles out to Leming but didn't see anything so we turned and came home.

We've finally got a little rain here recently too - it's about time!
I think I'll have to try that Frito pie you mentioned, sounds good and I think the guys would really like it!
Have a nice weekend and a great week ahead Paula :-)

Wish we could send this Maine cool and rain down there. It has been raining all day. It rained on the Festival down town. I know that is discouraging to plan an even like this and have it dampened by the weather.
We all know how you love to ride the country roads. John probably knows too, huh?
TAke care,

We aren't getting rain either. We did for a short time but only once enough to get the ground wet where the flowers are. My tomato plants still have some tomatoes on them to ripen but they do look sick. Not the tomato's but the plants. I somehow connect the looks of the leaves as blight that I think my dad and mom used to say. Yep, the stains are around Joe's chair.

We haven't had much rain, but I just washed my
car and it rained. When I have the grass cut
it rains so it will grow fast. I shouldn't
complain we have had more than other people.

Well I'm glad to see the rain came for you and gave people something to talk about too!! That is so cute. Burning the cactus sounds like a horrible job!

Love the cactus, though I wouldn't want to brush my bare leg up against it. I once tried to pluck the flower off a cactus when I was a child. I learned the hard way not to touch! Glad you had a few drops of rain. We are desperate for them here in California. There are wildfires burning all over the state, big and small. We had one about 20 miles from here yesterday that took out about sixty houses. Paulette

I have still got Texas on my prayer list for rain. I hate drought anywhere. I am interested in your turtles since we have none where I come from, so I am learning something new. Gerry
