Things You See At Wal*Mart

Now J. if you read this I am not judging these people. I am laughing with them not at them. John and I stopped in to buy a few things we needed and happened to get in line behind some interesting friendly people. I kid you not the big girl/lady (I don't know if she was the man's wife or daughter, she was a big girl/lady) was sucking on a pacifier. Is this a new fad? John and I kinda live a sheltered life down here so I have to ask. Its okay with me if she wants to wear a diaper with pink pins to Wal*Mart just makes it more fun for me to shop. So the man strikes up a conversation with us. He was buying dog food and was telling us how good some of it looks. He said the meat and gravy really looks good. The female said don't let him kid you he has tried it. I said well if he starts barking you'll know why. The man ask us well are u'all having a good Columbus Day so far? I said yes we went to the big city for me to have a bone density test and that is about as good as you can get. Which reminded me growing old is getting to be a lot of work. Friday it was to my primary doctor for a female test, today it was San Antonio for a bone density test, tomorrow its to the hospital for a mamogram, and Wednesday its to Bandera to the blood doctor. Wouldn't you think they could figure out a way for a person to just take a whole day and have everything done at once and at the same place? I used to hear senior citizens say if it wasn't for all the doctor visits we wouldn't have any place to go. Now I understand what they were saying.

About the dog food. Bill Irwin (the only blind person to walk the Appalachian Trail) said he once got his dog's treats mixed with his food on the trail and ate the treats until some sighted hiker told him he was eatig the dog's food.

Lordy I hope the pacifier is not a fad, but it would be better than the droopy drawers I am getting tired of seeing.

That is so true and not funny about old folks. They have no time to do anything for scheduled appointments. (many times)

the pacifier was "hip" back in the late 80's or early 90's. i see lots of strange things at wally world, lol, it's usually good for a giggle or two.
have a good week.

I agree getting old is not for the faint of heart. I have never seen a grown person with a pacifier and really would rather not.. I probably would have made some dumb remark that would not have gone over big at all.

Didn't they used to have a candy sucker made like a pacifier? Seems like I remember seeing some of the younger people with them. Maybe that was the fad some of the others are mentioning.

Why would I be mad about that? lol. I know you're not a judgmental person paula! Ecstasy users usually grind down on their teeth when they are on E and so they use a pacifier so maybe the girl was rolling? as for the dog food guy...scary! lol you find the best of folks at wal mart, that's why I love it!

Between me and Antonio, we average 2-3 appointments a week! I can't imagine what it will be like when I'm older.... Pacifiers, huh? That was a style when I was 16...about 8 years ago. Maybe its coming back...I dunno.

Hmmm.. And I know that's something people on "E" use as well... Pacifiers. I'm not sure why though...

I have found out that you can make a lot of work for the doctors if you give them any encourement. They can always find a new test. but my sister Linda has passed a new milestone in complaining about senior health care. She is mad if they give her an expensive test and mad if they don't. I can see old age is going to be a bumpy ride with her. These people in this complex never complain about the quality of their health care, no matter what happens. I saw the woman who has all but lost the use of her legs due to cellitis infections she said today and not once has she blamed it on the doctors. It is true that if you let yourself all you will be able to think about is one ailment or another, or maybe I am just healthy. but I do believe it helps to stay well by not allowing yourself to be disgruntled 98 percent of the time.
