Turtle Tid Bits

UH HUh so I read tonight that turtles are toothless. I think I'm going to enjoy researching turtles. A few months ago I had no interest in turtles and now I'm beginning to love them. I think that explains why they seem to like the bread more then the puppy food. The puppy food is very hard and even though I have the old bread in the freezer by the time we get to the ranch it is fairly soft. TO Sam: The stock tank never freezes over here. In fact it is possible to have 80 or 90 degree temperature on Christmas Day. I will be very surprised if the turtles here hibernate. On the coldest days they may not come out to play or at least most of them. One of these days I'm going to pet a turtle's head, but with gloves on of course. I don't want to have to go to my doctor and tell him I need a tetnus shot because a turtle bit me.

I would not like to go to a doctor and get a tetanus shot cause a turtle bit me, either. I did not know they didn't have teeth. How is Lucy? You said she was doing well the other day. For her sake I am glad she has you to watch out for her. I love this post.

I used to feed my turtles Meow Mix and they loved it. I can guarantee you that if you try to pet the turtle's head, they will either go back into their shell or bite (thinking it's food).

Are they the little striped water turtles? When Eler Beth had a couple pet box turtles she'd sometimes just feed them earth worms. They loved it. They always knew when she was walking by, and they'd walk up with their mouths open like baby birds. (They liked chicken liver too!)
