Great Grand Ma's Bed

CHRISTMAS ON THE RANCH
Jingle bells, jingle bells the cattle are in the pen. Rancher dusts his hands and turns with a grin.
Silent night, oh silent night coyotes howl from a hill. Rancher's young children watch quietly from the window sill.
A Christmas tree was selected early this morn. after all the chores had been tended in the barn.
Tinsel on the tree with lights shining bright. Reindeer pulling a sleigh, Santa holding tight.
Wild turkey are roosting, hoping not to get shot, not wanting to end up in the rancher's big pot.
The ranchhouse smells of baking, mistletoe has been hung. Stories have been told and Christmas carols sung.
Stockings have been hung underneath the long mantle, a wreath circles above complimenting a candle.
Christmas comes to the ranch on time each year. Chores and fun are a mixture the rancher holds dear.

Hi Paula,
That poem makes me yearn for a Rancher's life ... living off the land, being your own boss. I'm sure it's a life that comes with it's own set of stresses, but it sounds good.
Best,
Marty

Oh Paula, your poem is 'spot on', correct as a rancher's or farmer's dream...
May you have the Merriest of Christmas' and a Blessed New Year

Great poem. We didn't have a ranch but it reminds me of way back when. Especially that bed.
