Introducing Grasshopper

This is Grasshopper who lives with John's daughter and her mother. He was dumped on the road near their house and of course they took him in. I don't know why they named him Grasshopper. I'll have to ask sometime. When we go to their door we have to walk past this cage and he always jumps upon his water bucket and balances there like you see him here. He bares his tiny white teeth and snarls and barks until they come out to see what the rucus is about. I caught him in a calm moment to take this picture.
In answer to your question Johnny G. about scooping up after the cows in my last entry----well no it wouldn't be quite feasible to clean up after that many cows on that much acreage. It is only this way in the winter and will all go away soon when the grass starts to green up and the cattle will be spread over between 300 and 400 acres grazing on the green grass. As for the water the cattle aren't too particular about where they drink. Sometime they will drink muddy water in the dry creek bed instead of walking to the stock tank. John can and does add fresh water to the tank when it gets low and in the hot dry summer. Not all tanks have a well to allow this fresh water.

He-heee I had to laugh at Grasshopper jumping up on his water bucket.Maybe he is protecting it and saying ("This is mine LOL "!!)Maybe also he did a lot of leaping and bounding, when they found him,is the reason why they called him Grasshopper Paula?.He looks a lovely Dog.Have a great day.Take Care God Bless Kath xx

Thanks for visiting my blog and for your comments. You are hilarious. One never knows what treasure will be found in a thrift store.

Hi Paula,
I think Kath is right and was going to make the same comment: He's protecting his water bucket and showing you his teeth is a warning for you to stay away. Sounds like there might be a reason for the cage, though he doesn't look so angry in this photo.
Best,
Marty

Love the picture of Grasshopper!Amazing what animals will and can do without any training. Of course it is much more amazing what they can do with training, such as calling turtles!!! haha
Take care,
Jack &Sherry across the gulf.

I love the name "Grasshopper". Maybe it's a reference from the old Kung Fu TV series?

Grasshopper looks to be a Heinz 57 mix...as my Daddy used to say about dogs that were a little of this and a little of that. He may have some Husky in him and if so, they jump up and down when you come near them in anticipation of a harness going on them for a sled pull in the snow. Huskies love to pull the dog sleds. Just a thought with that curl in his tail...
Oh, loved your kind explanation of 'picking up after the cows'...guess he was not raised anywhere near a farm or ranch...it's a wonderful life, isn't it?
God Bless

I like Grasshopper's looks. Cute trick he is doing. When Ken used to do pest control a few of the homes he went into the dog ran to their food dish and started eating. Guess they thought he was going to eat their food LOL.

He's handsome & talented too with his balancing act! I love all the animals pics & entries prior to this one. I'm glad you found out which turtles you have. My guy is a yellow bellied slider.
