Spring Is Trying To Spring

This is an old picture but it was taken on the east end of the ranch where they grow plentiful. A few days ago I thought I spotted a bud on one. Now I'm sure I did because the one in my back yard has a bud. They look like a big purple pinapple and then open into white but the flower doesn't last very long. At the ranch some bloom early and some bloom late. They are so pretty but those pointed leaves are wicked. I try to keep the points nipped off the one at my house so the man who mows doesn't poke an eye out. Mine was about a foot tall growing in a gate so I dug it up and transplanted it in my yard. Now it is at least twice as tall as I am. Took several years to bloom but it was worth the wait. Today we saw two fields full of Sweet William. So pretty wish I had a picture. It is trying so hard to spring but it is still cold even though we are having some pretty sunny days and I think it snowed in San Antonio yesterday. We didn't even get a flurry as it went east. Spring used to be my favorite time of year and its still beautiful with the wild flowers when it has rained like this year, I know summer is not far behind and it can be brutal here.

you mentioned snipping the points, I have often wondered why more folks did not have an eye put out with those SHARP leaves(?). I bet those are pretty close up though.
Good entry.

WOW Paula what a great sight this early morn.At last some flowers to look at.Thick freezing fog here in my part of England this early morn.Brrr.Oh!! to be in Texas LOL! I love the new header picture it's great.Sweet williams are one of my favourite.I usually plant them with wallflowers. My wallflowers are bushy right now as I nipped the tops off recently to encourage this so they don't grow leggy, but they will not bloom until March April, then the air will be full of perfume.Roll on spring I carn't wait.Have a great day.Take Care God Bless Kath xx

Dear Paula,
Thank you for the prayers for my wife, Sharon, again. We are tired of the snow in Wisconsin, and wish for Spring to plant our veggie garden.
Bless you and your family.

Warm Regards,
