What Constitutes A Hun?

No, not an Asian people who invaded Europe about 450 A.D. I'm speaking hun as in short for the endearing expesssion honey. I was in line to get a submarine sandwich and there was two sharp young ladies in front of me. Cute, dressed to the nines. The clerk was so smitten he could hardly contain himself. It was hun this and hun that and they said please and thank you. When he came to me he had the nerve to call me mam. Couldn't he see I had on matching red socks and shirt for Valentine's Day coming? Couldn't he see I had on cute earrings and my hair was sticking straight up with wax the way the modern girls wear it? No guess he must have spotted my wrinkles. Well I was once a hun and one day those sharp girls will be a mam.

Hilarious. What you and I weigh in experience in our little pinkies compared to the younger women...it's laughable that we are ma'm anything. For the knowledge we earned in years alone should constitute a hon. (Hugs)Indigo

I hate when that happens! Seriously. I always forget that I'm not a "hun" anymore until I either happen to look in the mirror or someone reminds me with a "mam" - We need to come up with some equally as nauseating cute little name to call those people back, innocently of course ;-)

PAULA, YOU CERTAINLY ARE A 'HUN' TO WE APPRECIATIVE OLDER ONES. WE UNDERSTAND THE INSIDE BEAUTY TOO.
THERE'S NOTHING SWEETER THAN AN OLDER LADY THAT HAS LIVED LIFE AND KNOWS JESUS AS FRIEND. HAS SINCERE LOVE FOR HUMANS AND ANIMALS.
BEAUTY SHOWS THROUGH THE SMILE. WRINKLES DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE BEAUTY OF A MATURE WOMAN.

PITY FOR THE MIS-GUIDED ONES THAT ARE SO 'HUNG UP' ON COSMETIC SURGERY AND ATTEMPTS TO PROTECT AGAINST GROWING OLDER. SUCH STUPID THINKING. WHY NOT USE SOME COMMON SENSE ?

PAULA YOU ARE TRULY BEAUTIFUL. sam

I was just called Mam for the first time a few weeks ago. I asked him if he wanted to see my AARP card too while he was at it! LOL He thought it was funny and tried to explain that he didn't think I was old......yea, okay! Happy Valentine's Day!

Now, honestly, to me "mam" is an expression of respect and I use it on younger folks and older folks equally, along with "sir".

But I will admitt I step higher when someone calls me "hun" or "doll". ;o)

Nice post, hun! Every once in a while I'll get called "young man", and at 43 that's enough to make my week!
